Pre op TLHR
I am due to have my TLHR op next week. I have had to stop taking Naproxen and I cannot believe how much pain I am now in! I had my other hip done 3 years ago and this wasn’t a thing then.
Is this now normal practice and has anyone any tips for getting through the next week?
I’m only taking paracetamol and they don’t touch the pain. I can’t take Codeine either as it makes me very sick.

Hi and welcome. I had my left hip replacement 3 weeks ago and also took Naproxen. At my pre-assessment I was told to stop taking the Naproxen 48 hours before my op. but could take paracetamol up to 24 hours before. Perhaps you could contact the pre-assessment team where you will be having your op. and see what they say. I do hope that something can be done as it is a long time to be without pain meds. Please let us know how you get on and take care.
