I have rheumatoid arthritis and have stiff hands but lately my right hand thumb and 3 fingers are either tingling or numb. I think this maybe carpal tunnel syndrome. Has anyone any experience of this? Any advice would be gratefully welcome. Thank you.

  • I have carpel tunnel’s syndrome had my left side operation but over last five years my right hand becomes stiff in fingers and thumb , my little finger and thumb will randomly meet each other other and the pain 🤦‍♂️I have to straighten em out , I have for the last four years been having egg bottox injections every six weeks which gives me some relief , apparently it’s from when I had emergency spinal surgery they pinched the main ,secondary and primary nerves , I’ve lost muscle from my right forearm due to it , plus they won’t do any operations due to spinal disease 🤦‍♂️, have nine hyerniated disc’s aswell as arthritis, currently waiting on facit injections 🤷‍♂️ , hay ho it’s life ,

    Hi,

I have the symptoms of carpal tunnel but after being tested they said it is not carpal tunnel but the swelling caused by my arthritis giving the symptoms of carpal tunnel. They will not operate. I have splints for both wrists that I wear while I sleep. They help a fair bit.

    Hi @Ariana

I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in 2020 and in 2022 was also diagnosed with enthesitis. Apparently about a third of those diagnosed with PsA will also have enthesitis. It turns out that plantar fasciitis and carpal tunnel can be mistakenly diagnosed when in fact the issues are part of the symptoms of enthesitis. I had many years previously been diagnosed with carpal tunnel and plantar fasciitis was diagnosed 4 years before my enthesitis diagnosis. My rheumatologist believes these were actually early signs of enthesitis.

My finger joints permanently feel overworked and aching and I don't have anywhere near the grip strength I had previously. If I try to spread my hand and fingers I get a pain across the back of my hand as well as pins and needles. I wear compression gloves which I feel help me.
