Osteoarthritis in right knee
People mention being under a consultant on here but this is not the case for me? I saw my GP 2 years ago in August 2023 who diagnosed l had osteoarthritis in my right knee. Because of the chronic pain he has put me on a repeat prescription for Codeine phosphate 30mg which l have taken every day since then. It does have side effects as with all meds but l am willing to negotiate these for the pain relief. I also use ibuprofen gel 10%. Yet there seems to be a negative culture around taking Codeine because of addiction and the information on NICE says it shouldn’t be prescribed for longer than a few days? I should also mention l am underweight, eat healthy and try and exercise, unless it causes a flare up, which can only help.

Hello @yogamad and welcome to the Online Community. We are a friendly and supportive group and I hope you find that as well.
It is good that you are exercising and taking pain medication. Like you I have osteoarthritis and do not see a consultant only a GP and then not often. Co-codamol is all I take.
You might find the following of use though
Worth a look though I think you are already doing most of what is recommended.
Best wishes
Peter
