blood tests

Can anyone tell me which tests are done.
Sam got 5 vials of blood taken last week, I phoned today and they said 2 were back and normal but 1 was missing.
The other 2 weren't mentioned.
If they all come back normal does that mean he doesn't have arthritis and something else is wrong with him?
I'm starting to get really confused now :? Help

Hi Julie, it is hard to know what blood tests Sam had done, but some do take longer to come back, even if results were normal it dosen't mean that Sam does not have Arthritis, there is Sero-negative RA, which means results come back normal but inflamation is still there, the only advice I can offer is to take Sam to the gp and ask them to explain things to you, sorry I can't be of any further help love jaspercatxxx0

if you can get an appointment with your GP nurse then they will have more timeto help you with the info about the different tests - but your GP would surely explain if you asked - just don't expect the receptionist to know everything as there are so many tests that get done.
I hope you get some info, but in the meantime try not to worry about what you haven't heard about .... that usually means that they have seen what they expected to see (good or bad) and don't feel it is necessary to get you in to see them urgently.
PS - in our house we are well used to having 'normal' results but having 'abnormal' bodies, so nothing showing in bloods is notthe end of the story.

Thanks for your replies.
I phoned the doctors today, another test result is back but receptionist doesn't know what the test was for and the doctor hasn't looked at it yet.
I've got a telephone appointment for Tuesday. I much prefer telephone appointments to discuss things as I don't need to take Sam off school and they will phone me at work
I am hoping that something shows up (does that sound terrible?) so they can say exactly what type of arthritis he has and get him on to some descent medication.
He has been off school so much recently I don't think he will be able to sit his higher physics as it is a really intense course and he has missed so much. I've got an appointment at the school next week to discuss this and see what the school can do to help.

I had a telephone appointment with my GP yesterday and she explained all about Sams blood results.
Everything was as they had hoped as normal results mean they can start him on methotrexate or similar. He has an appointment at paediatric rheumatology on the 11th december so we will find out what they are going to put him on them.
They have also done a number of specialist tests which can take about 4 weeks to come back.
They included:- ANA, HLA27 and not sure what else. These ones were ordered by the hospital so hopefully the results will be there when we go next week.
Wish us luck
