Hi Everyone, I have got very painful hands again, I have told my Rheumy who has ordered an x-ray, unhappily the x-ray dept at the hospital can't give me an appt until 3 weeks. My right hand is so bad that I have seen the out of hours doctors today, they think that I may have carpal tunnel, I am going to ring my OT tomorrow as they say that I need a special splint, if only the Rheumy would have taken notice of me earlier love Jaspercatxxx

Hi, Sorry, you must be suffering and I can sympathise I've got carpel tunnel syndrome and oa in in my hands! When I first had the pain I thought I had fratured a small bone in my hand at work! I've had 2 steroid injections and I've got splints. It'll be a few weeks before I know if that will work. Their is also a simple op they can do under local if the injections etc don't work. Hope you get sorted out soon. Sue xx

hi, before they diagnosed my RA i was told i might have carpel tunnel, i was sent for nerve testing which is a good way of seeing if it's carpel tunnel or arthritis, mine ended up being due to my arthritis. i have rheumatoid arthritis and my hands i would say, are the worst effected joints, i have trouble gripping things, holding things and basically my hands are very weak and painful.
the meds have helped but my hubby bought me heated gloves for christmas last year and they help so much!! especially when it's cold outside.
feel free to ask if i can help at all, but i would see if you can have nerve testing as it told my specialist more than the x rays did.

Hi Kat sorry to hear about your hands can you press for earlier hosp appt and not have to wait. my hands gets lots of pain and pins and nedles every morning only advice is to rest them in cumbersome splints which is not practical given what we have to do or would like to do during the day take care Chrisov

    Hi There,

I'm sorry to hear you are having such a bad time of it. I too am having a bad time, generally, but also recently with my hands again. I had an experience in the past when both were painful/numb. Carpal Tunnel was ruled out, apparently my elbow joints were squeezing the nerves. I woke up about 03.00 this morning, the pain was so bad in them, but when I got out of bed I nearly fell over because I forgot how bad my feet were!!

I hope things improve for you.

    Take care,

    Eugene.

Hi, I have been speaking to my gp this afternoon, quite frankly he has been of more help in 10 mins than my Rheumy has in over a year, he has given me some Tramadol for the pain, the hospital have written to me and cancelled my x-ray, they have done this twice now due to staff sickness, quite frankly I am sorry they have problems but I want my x-ray. I rang my Rheumy she has organised for me to go to a private hospital on thursday next week for x-rays, and I don't have to pay either love Jaspercatxxx
