Happy new year to everyone!!
Ive been on methotrexate injections for just over a year now. Last winter I was ok but this year I have been sooooo cold! Usually, im walking around in just a top but now i have to wear 6 layers even with the heating on all day. Ive been to the GP but is not sure and wants me to wait and see the consultant whom i have an apt in a couple of weeks.
Just wondered if anyone else is feeling extra cold being on mxt??
Look forward to hearing from you, take care.

I always used to be warm by nature, but since being on methotrexate, (past 4 years), I have felt the cold+++++
I started enbrel this week and spent the first 24 hours in an even more frozen state.
Nobody has ever been able to tell me how this happens, but I know friends on methotrexate and they have exactly the same problem. I am under a blanket as I write this and the heating is on full too.
Hope you find some warmth.
Happy New Year.

Hi, I have been on MXT injections for about 3 years now, at first I didn't notice the cold as with female problems I was always hot, now though I feel the cold really badly, I have invested in thermal pyjama's and my husband bought me some sheepskin mittens for xmas, I am wearing alot of clothes too, so it must be a MXT thing, not much we can do about it love Jaspercatxx0

Thank you to everyone who has replied.
It makes me feel a bit better knowing that feeling so cold all the time is probably due to the MXT. Just wish i could find something that would help me get a bit warmer. Last night when I went to bed I was dressed like I was going mountain climbing!! Apparently though you can buy electric blankets that can be kept on all night. Not sure if i like the idea of that though.. dont want to go to the other extreme of being set alight!
Off to the hospital soon so will see if they can offer any other advice.
Message for Kazpaz....Im hopefully being started on Enbrel too...how do you feel???
Heres hoping you all feel a bit warmer...roll on the summer!!
Take care x0 -

With modern electric blankets you can get, all night, over or under-blankets, (you can't switch them around to suit). All have thermostatic cut outs built in, which switch off as soon as they start to overheat. Being set alight by one is a thing of the past, but have you considered a duvet. No power, no settings, just put on and go!
New ones are lightweight, but with a high TOG (warmth) rating, which has nothing to do with thickness. A winter duvet is likely to be rated from 12 togs upwards. These are typical values for adults. They are like me, soft and warm and cuddly, so I am reliably informed! :P
How do you measure TOGs? With a TOGmeter, naturally.

iv not got r/a or take the meds u all take either.this year has been my 1st with arthr.i have o/a,have morphine patches 20mg per hr,cocodomol 30/500,ibru & amptrip.but boy oh boy im i feeling the cold.have put flannelette sheets on bed, extra throw take up hot water bottle.downstairs 2 cardies on heating on full, blanket over legs, boots on all the time.if i could get away with going to bed fully clothed i would, cause its too cold to take clothes off.so i think its arthr in general making us all feel the cold. debs0
