Why did I do it?

Hello all,
I'm in agony, can hardly type this. Santa, for some bizarre reason left a trampoline for my kids :? As hubby pretty hopeless with following diagrams, it was left to me to put said contraption together. Today was the day and I'm paying for it big time. I was bored cos I can't drive at the mo cos ankles are really sore so I thought-that tramploliine needs putting together-I can do that!
Result being my back is now very, very sore. Main problem though is my right hand. I just would not listen to my body telling me to stop. I now have pain going right up my hand into my arm. My hand is shaking when I type but when I use my middle finger, the pain radiates all through my fingers and goes into my hand then up my arm
I've been deleting all the way through this post cos I keep double hitting buttons. It's really sore, like a crampy feeling? Is this what you get with trigger finger? As heading says, why did I do it? Only myself to blame-eh? Kids are delighted though
(about trampoline that is!)

My sympathy to you
We do what we must, rather than what we should. :P
You have earned a rest and recuperation, get the kids to bounce you some waiting on.

hi magenta, You have my sympathy and admiration! I'm hopeless at those sort of things; if I'd done it, the your kids would probably all be in hospital by now!!! Feel better soon. Love Sue0

If your pains don't subside have you tried a hot bath, this often soothes me when I've overdone things?
In a few days time when your body's stopped punishing you, you'll be proud of your achievement and glad you didn't let arthur stop you from doing it.Well done.

hi Magenta
I started to read your thread and thought oh no! you havent gone on a trampoline have you...i have been tempted in the past but thought better of it!! we all push ourselves a bit too much doing jobs, make sure you relax as tense muscles make things worst and keep of the trampoline0 -
hi,i also had the same thoughts.poor u.im suffering too as i forgot to put the light on to go to bed new years day & i tripped over the bed throw( its satin & wood floors ) & ouch i went wallop. bruised my right elbow badly,& pulled all my back,so i'll be suffering with u for a while too!!! what a start to the new year.
hope u recover quickly. debsxx0 -
Aw, thanks everyone
We're now laughing about it ( my hubby had to intervene when it came to putting 32!!!! springs on damn thing, and he's got a massive bruise on his arm-heh heh). Both my kids, 5 and nearly 3, gave me a big kiss and 'huggle' and told me 'I was the best Mum-ever'
They were on it today and they loved it. John and I eventually had to put a stop to it cos it was freezing!!!!! They get knackered, which is goodI used to do trampolining, somersaults etc but I'm afraid those days are long gone and I would break this one-heh heh.
Thanks again for all your nice messages, made me feel better,

I over did it at the weekend too.
Since developing RA i've been forever turning down offers to play football, badminton, basketball etc with friends as I simply can't do it. However, for a mate's 25th this weekend they invited me to go go-karting. Now I love motor sport, and, getting fed up of not having a life I thought 'what the hell, I'll go for it!'
I had a wonderful time so I'm glad I went but.. and it's a big 'but'...... I hurt like hell today. I can't straighten my fingers, my knees hurt constantly and refuse to bend all the way, my wrists are really swollen and keep cracking whenever I use them and to top it all off my lower back aches.
I know a few of the others ache a little as it's tough to wrestle the kart about but my RA has made it unbearable for me.
I agree with the topic title.... Why did I do it?0 -

You did it for all the right reasons and I'm sure that when your aches/pains/swellings have subsided in a couple of days (which they will) you'll be really glad you did because you've proved to yourslef that there is life beyond arthritis. Well done

Yes, at least you'll have achieved something and not given in and that, I'm sure will help heal the pain
