NHS Choices

Has anyone used NHS Choices to compare hospitals for treatments i.e. TKR? I live about 2 miles from our local, large, trust hospital and was told that this does more knee replacements than any other in the UK (don't know if that is so). I thought I would use the Choices website to compare hospitals for this condition.

The odd thing is if I select 'Knee Replacement' and enter either my location or postcode, our local hospital does not appear in the list. I have twice asked NHS Choices for the reason and each time was promised a reply but of course I don't get one! Does anyone know the reason. The consultant I am under is said to be President of the British Assocation for Surgery of the Knee (BASK).

Does anyone have any ideas as to why the hospital does not appear in the comparisons?

    HI Brian
Haven't tried it, but that does sound odd. On the face of it your local one sounds really good and good surgeon too, but why doesn't it show? :?
Maybe you could talk to someone who has had the surgery there?
    Take care
