knuckles!

Hi everyone,
I know this sounds like an odd question, but has anyone experienced their knuckles becoming more prominent? The ones that join your fingers to your hands-I forget the technical name! I have obvious bone spurs on my thumb joints, but this looks different; not swollen, but the actual bones looking bigger and seeming more prominent through the skin. My index finger ones are v painful, but the others aren't. It seems to have happened quite quickly, in the last couple of months or so. Is this usual? I'm a bit concerned. Thankyou, Josie

My knuckle on my right hand on my index finger is awful, its the one that gives me the most pain, its discoloured and it sticks out and is swollen..0

Oh yes indeed
I have a particularly painful and lumpy protuberance on the knuckle of my little finger right hand and a smaller but just as painful one on my left.
Ugly and painful - what more could anyone want

Hi Josie, most certainly, the first 2 knuckles on both hands are very promient, they get very sore and red, it is very easy to knock them on things as well, they were not like this before I was diagnosed love Jaspercatxx0

Hi,
I've got big knukles(one of the first things I noticed several years ago) too and a small, lump on the middle knuckle of my right hand, which gets sore when I knock it. Sue0 -
I first noticed these small hard nodules forming on some of my fingers months ago; but now my fingers are really stiff and swollen -particularly the index - and painful in the mornings, and the joints you mention look bigger and hurt sometimes too0

Thankyou for all your replies. I'm slightly shocked at the speed at which they've suddenly seemed to become prominent and don't really understand why I have no pain in most of them (not complaining about that of course!) One of the many mysteries I suppose! :?0
