Just returned from the dr, am very depressed. She confirmed I have got arthritis in my neck although the pain is manageable with just ibrufen gel, I am getting constant pins and needles in my lt arm and hand. She has referred me to physio and to an orthopaedic surgeon. She said I might need an injection to unblock the nerve. I am very worried about this, has anybody had ths done? I am thinking of all sorts and my mind is doing over time with the worst scenario that could happen to me. The OA is more or less generalized but I am still mobile & carry on as normal. She also said if I can cope without medication, it is ok just use them when needed. I am currently doing pilates, yoga etc everyday. I would love to hear from members with OA in the neck!! Thanks

I have oa in my neck. I take co-dydromol which is prescribed for me. It sounds as if yours is effecting a nerve in the neck, which is causing all the pain etc. and the gp thinks the surgion my decide to put in an a sort of injection to stop the pain. I'm not sure about this,as I'm not a medical person, but someone else on here may have had it or know more. In any case, I'm sure the surgion will talk over anything he wants to do with you first and give you a chance to decide. Sue.

I had a trapped nerve in my neck - & all the pins & needles etc.

I was referred to a physiotherapist, and I found that very helpful. I had exercises to do several times each day, and eventually it got rid of the problem for me. I keep doing the exercises though, as if I stop then my neck starts to stiffen up again,

Hope your physio appointment is soon and that they can help you as much as they helped me!
