Well the date for my op has been set for 20th February, oh at last, I have been jumping through all the hoops since November 2007. I am having the bulging disc at C5/6 removed and an Oesteophyte at the same level which is occluding the nerve orafices to my arms. I know it will not be a picnic, but oh I do so need it done. The Physio has talked through the extended treatment plan for post op so I will be busy for the next 18 months or so.

If they had taken me in sooner I would only have taken my PJ's and a few personal items. Now I will need to include my working splints, rest/night splints and the newly aquired ankle supports. These later look so ugly however the comfort they give makes me sigh with contentment. I did not like the look of the ones I was offered so bought sport supports from the net. They come a fair way up over the ankle and adjust at 4 levels. Wonder how big the bedside lockers are.

Anyway, I will spend the next few weeks wishin the time away and the last week having second thoughts. But I know I must have this done. Linda.

    Hi legs
I'm so glad for you :):)
I'm not sure the lockers are THAT big :!:
I'm sure they will look after you though.
I had back surgery in 2003 in a herniated disc, which lost me all of my right leg and a little fracture at the same place, so I have a little understanding. I have nearly all of my leg 'back' now - just alittle permanent nerve damage.
I hope we can do our bit to keep your mind off the 20th feb.
    Take care for now

Thanks to all, Toni I will just have to take an under bed store bag with me then
The surgeon has a wonderful reputation and my physio is presently working with a man who is recovering from the same procedure so I am sure I will benefit from this. She says it is amazing to see the tiny wound on the neck.

I hope that we are able to get most of my arm function back, presently I would settle for a loss of pain and the horrible spasm , when relaxed, makes my hand closes round my other arm, jumper, side etc. Funny as it may seem to you all, you have no idea how scary it is when you wake in the night to find someone holding your arm...especially when you live alone. This has been helped by wearing the splints...I was getting worried I would find it round my throat  Imagine the headlines in the press...Woman strangled in her sleep...foul play ruled out.

Anyway I am sure you will all help me get by until then. I am on everyday, sometimes can't post but do have a giggle at a lot of the posts and a hearty rant along with others. Linda
