Hi Everyone, I am apologising in advance for this is a whinge, I have been feeling fed up lately, I have had painful hands for a year now and the cold weather is really affecting me, I can't seem to get my Rheumy to do anything about it, she did an ultrasound and said there was no inflamation, now I am having an x-ray.
All I can do is take painkillers and today I feel really doped up and tired, surely someone can help me, I am 50 and feel really older, I have had to resort to a carer again as I can't wring the flannel out to wash myself, I am wearing my working splints on both hands now and I have never needed to do that.
I cried my eyes out last night, I haven't told my hubbie about crying as although he understands, he will call the gp, who says the only painkiller left is Oramorph, and I don't want to take that step. Any help appreciated love Jaspercatxx

Sounds like you need a big hug. Everything always seems to pile up and get on top of us doesnt it. I felt the same all weekend, although the weather was milder and the pains havent been anywhere near as bad. Its just started snowing though so I can feel my body starting to stiffen. Big hug from me.x0 -

Oh Jaspercat I do feel for you. I am sending you huge hugs and loving thoughts.
Like you I am having to wear my working splints for most activities. I use disposable gloves over them when cooking and also when washing myself. Once I am finished I take gloves and splints off and wash my hands. I know it is not perfect but living on my own its the best I can do.
I hope you feel better soon and please do not think you are a whinger...everyone on here has felt like this often. Linda0 -
would just like to wish you better jaspercat. my thoughts are with you, and please don't keep it all inside. talking (or typing in our case on this forum) helps ease our worries and woes so please don't feel like you're whinging. take care.x0

Hi Jaspercat sorry to hear you so down, i to suffer bad with my hands and its the little things that get you down. Long term pain is the most awfull thing and it does get you down and wear you out.
You put all your hopes in the Rheumy and when they cant sort it out where do you turn. I met with My rheumy this afternoon and all bad news and yet more drugs but at least i know where i stand.
I dont know what to say to you looking back through your posts you have been so positive and helpfull, Its funny how this site works you can be so down and yet be so helpful to others. try and take it easy for a while i have no magic words wish i had. I do hope your feeling better son and if its ok with hubby have a big hug from me to. take care

Hi, just wanted to say thanks to all of you for messages and hugs etc, I have told my hubbie how I am really feeling, he is quite shocked and upset that I didn't mention it before, I have seen the gp this pm, he has suggested trying an anti-depressant and is contacting the Rheumy to ask her to help me, he says I need Anti-tnf's as I have tried most other Dmards, trouble is I know the East Cheshire NHS trust has turned some people down, it has been in the paper we'll see!! love Jaspercatxx0

Hi everyone I'm a newbie on this forum, however I've been suffering with PA for the last 4 years. I can really relate to how poor Jaspercat is feeling.
I had a really bad day on Sunday to the degree that by Sunday evening I was crying hysterically to my husband with the pain.
It's really horrible for him as he doesn't know how to deal with it all.
All he wants is for things to get back to normal and they never will. Sometimes he's quite off with me, but I think its frustration and helplessness on his part and the fact that he really doesn't understand what I'm going through.
To cap it all I couldn't get an appt with my Dr until tomorrow so I had to take the day off work. It's a pity really because I've only been in my new post a week.
I take Lefludomide every day and 35mg Mtx once a week. I think the thing that gets sufferers down is thepain and inconsistency of it all plus the fatigue and tiredness.
I'm only 47 but feel 140 some days, it's getting to the stage where I am starting to feel depressed about the whole thing. I have been determined to steer clear of the anti depressants but with each outbreak I feel closer to getting some help to cope.
To dear Jaspercat please know that you are not alone, a hug always helps0 -
Hi Jaspercat,
Sorry you're feeling so low. I was like that a few weeks back but better now. It's funny though, I'm worse pain wise just now but more up-beat :? Can't figure myself out at the mo. Wouldn't it be lovely if we could all meet up and cry etc and get things off our chest? I'm sure we would all have funny stories to tell about our Arthur Like the time I lost a tablet and at midnight (?) I was trying to lift my fridge freezer! Then I wonder why I'm so sore the next day
Hope you feel better soon,
love Magenta xx0 -

Take care

Yesterday was supposedly the most depressing day of the year....
Dear Jaspercat, hope you are feeling better today. I find January and February the most miserable months for me, when everything aches, I could eat for England and sleep the rest of the time until March. I really should not wish my life away!
You are not alone,
Love
