I'm having my knee replacement at last, but now I have another problem, I live in a 2nd floor flat (28 stairs no lift) and my GP and consultant say I have to be moved to a ground floor property. I have rent arrears and they are refusing to move me, does anyone know of anywhere I ca get some advice/help with this please. I haven't a hope in hell of paying it as I am now on disability after having to give up my job :(

Hi Kim, I don't know the circumstances of why you have rent arrears, however if they were due to lack of income due to your illness ask CAB to intervene on your behalf.
In Scotland we have the housing advocacy, you should see if there is anything like this in your area.
I hope that you can get help to resolve the issue, it is enough to be worrying about your op just now. Linda

the helpline people may be able to point you in the right direction for help with your current problems - why not give them a ring?

Suely the council will let you pay off the arrears on top of your weekly rent, as previously said see the CAB or contact your local councillor or MP. Contact your local paper and tell them they may shame the council into sorting out the problem.

Hi Kim i'm with the others you need to go to CAB
If you have an unemployment centre in the area its worth seeing them to. Make sure you take your notes and letters with you and take coppys of everything.
