Carpel Tunnel?

Hello,
I'm not having a good time of it just now-taken today off work and probably tomorrow too! Everywhere is sore from my toes to neck. I know I've got something going on with nerves in hands but don't know what. I get pain, tingling and numbness in hands and thumb from time to time but lately it's become more regular. Tonight, whilst on computer, my mum called me on my mobile. I was holding phone in left hand with my elbow resting on arm of couch. After 5mins I had to change hands cos my left hand became very painful and numb. I also got the same feeling last night but in my right hand-hubby is a snoarer (aargh!) and I put my right hand over ear to try( ) to get back to sleep but my hand became painful and very bad with pins 'n' needle like feeling. Does this sound like carpel tunnel or some other 'nerve' thing going on? Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Hello Magneta sorry you are in pain. A bit off topic I know, I snore too (I have a hole in my nose) anyway I bought one of those magnet thingies from the net. I thought well its £10 worth a shot - and hey presto it works!! Only problem is - my cat keeps jumping on me in the night - OH says she is checking I'm still alive!

Hi
I've got carpel tunnel and it sounds as if you might, also RA can cause it Sorry. My hands are not as good as they should be, I keep dropping things, which makes me CROSS I also wake up in the night with pins & needles and itching. Iwake up scratching my hands and arms to bits :!: You should ask the doc! They do a simple test, tapping the wrist etc which gives them a diagnosis. Hope I'm wrong. Sue0 -

hi,
I have had both hands done for carpal tunnel. It's hard to tell if the nerve is strangled by RA or the nerve is trapped because of the tendon crushing the nerve, especially when it is intermittent..Either way it is very uncomfortable and once I had both surgeries done I got relieve but, I still have some problems with pain in that area from time to time even now.

Hi Jimmy,
Thanks for replying. Don't know if you've read my other post about 'funny thumb'? There's obviously something going on with nerves in arm-but what? Thanks again,

Hi,
To be honest with you they conducted a electrical test/measurement with nerve impulses etc. from the shoulder to the hand. It was an awful test but was necessary so the insurance paid for the carpal tunnel surgery. My gut feeling is as the bone structure changes due to bone deterioation, tendons are effected/misplaced in the hands, feet, and knees which result in painful experiences.
