Hi all,

Im currently waiting for a hip replacement due to sever OA and really struggling :(

I've tried just to get on with my life but this past week and have had real issues just getting out of bed and walking is so difficult! unfortunately got sent home from work on friday - and i really want to be back tomorrow !

I went to see my gp two weeks ago and then things were not this bad - i could walk with a smile !
Do you think it would be pushy to go back so soon? Im not expecting miricles but just to walk around my house right now would be nice !

x :P

    Hi Miss I
I think you will have to go back as you can't cope like this for long. Maybe there is something else that could be done in the short term; physio or better pain releif, hydro etc.
I'm sure you do all the usual like heat pads and pillows between knees etc.
I do hope you feel better soon
Be brave - you have to go back. there have been changes in your condition.

No it is not pushy to ask to see a doctor. Never feel like that. Afterall where would doctors be without sick people? Hope you feel better soon and go see your doctor! :)

    Hi all,

Hi Miss. Oh dear it doesent sound very nice its so awful being in pain. Yes get yourself back to the GP tell him you cant cope and ask can he hurry things up for you. He may be able to give you something stronger for the pain. The waiting game can be hell when your in so much pain and difficulty. I hope you feel better soon

    Hi Miss I
I know where you are coming from! I am waiting for a date for my THR and have a lot of pain. If you feel that your pain is worse go back to your GP to see if they can expedite your appointment or reassess your pain relief. I am off work at the moment and have had my pre op done, which showed a problem with my blood pressure. I am due to go back to have it checked again this week and am so scared that it won`t have come down. If it doesn`t My op date will be delayed
If you still have pain etc tomorrow try to get an appointment to talk with your GP.

Chase them up, it's not pushy because you have some really serious issues. I had to chase them up when I first had the severe pain, they never really took me seriously. I'm so glad I did, another Dr phoned the Hospital and spoke to the Consultant the same day of my appointment and she just told them "look this lady has a baby and a toddler and needs seen NOW" they sent me up to the Hospital the same day and I got my MRI the next. It's not quite surgery waiting lists but they can only say wait. The main thing is it's in your records that your condition is worsening. Good luck.

My friend's a doctor's receptionist (a very nice one  ) and she says it's amazing how many people (especially the elderly) make an appointment to see the doctor just for a chat, possibly because they're lonely :( . Some go as regularly as once a week

You have a genuine need to see your GP as you need help - any good GP will recognise this. Whenever you're not going they think you're healthy and fine, which you're not at the moment, so I suggest you make an appointment and get the pain relief you deserve. :D

Get yourself back there, your GP won't know how bad you are if you don't tell him/her.
I really am sorry you are in so much pain, hope they can give you something to help/ Linda
