hi,all.
do any of u suffer from hot sweats & horrific nightmares taking amptripyline.
i wake every 3-4hrs in pain on turning over in bed, which i think most of us do.but last night was about my worse night ever.
my shoulder pain was unbearable,so i couldnt get comfy to go to sleep.then the pain in my knees started waking me.
the nightmare was...some1 was hacksawing my knees off,i could see them doing it,but seemed to think(in my sleep)thats better it wont hurt now.
does that sound strange?
or is it just me? i am strange anyway debsx

Yikes, I just got my first batch today and read this. Here was me thinking I was going off to a blissfull slumber. I'll keep you posted! I know when I was on seroxat for PND I had horrible sweats & nightmares. Should add, those dreams were similar, like horror films, very gory. Hope I don't get them!0

i think the hot sweats r hormone related.

Hi, it's ok, I laughed more than worried. As long as I'm actually getting some sleep at last will be the main thing, but I'll keep an eye on things and see what happens. Lol at taking so many meds, my Dad saw me taking mines the other day and said he can't believe that I don't rattle when I walk0

I started them 3 weeks ago, and apart from feeling a bit sleepy for a few days I soon got used to them and find them helpful. No nightmars though my husband complained about me snoring  Hope you find them helpful....Ohhhhh I've just fallen over as I seem to be legless - : : Love Sue xxx0

Hi
I`ve been taking them for about 6 months. I don`t think i`ve had any adverse side effects, or nightmares (no more dreams etc than without). I had an increasing dose and am now on 50 mg in evening and do feel it has helped with nerve pain and sciatica symptoms. Not sure what makes me drowsy as am on morphine also! But still wake most nights. Evenings are improved though I must say0 -

Hi, I also take diclofenac for my arthritis. I take Tramadol too, I've just been given amytrptyline to use when and if required. The tramadol do give you a dry mouth but not like these. No libido probs with them either. In my earlier post I mentioned seroxat and nightmares, they must be very similar as they give you a dry mouth and libido issues too. The tramadol are fantastic for the pain, might be worth asking about them. x0 -
I have been taking 25mg at night for over a year now, I also take Gabapentin, co codamol and Naproxen. I sometimes have short spells of being sweaty, though being a female I suppose I should call it perspiration and having strange dreams. However I find this a favourable trade off to get a little sleep most nights. Linda0

I've been fine!!
First day after I took one (25mg) I didn't wake up till 2pm so watch out, but apart from that no nightmares at all :!:
I think your nightmare was totally appropriate given the pain you were in
Take care

i'm glad i'm not alone! i am on 20mg and i get terrible nightmares and wake up every few hours, i was thinking about asking gp if i could up my dose to see if it helped.
also i've started snoring since i started taking them, my hubby always moans!! i didn't realise it was the tablets, i thought it was because they knock me out, but not for long!!0 -
