Been on methotrexate about 14 weeks and was told by nurse i should have flu jab. Never one to take drugs unless needed. Had PA for 14 years ( started after birth of my son) only taken diclofenac and omprazole and painkillers all these years till pain in joints got worse. Have not had flu jab yet have not had it before. What do you think about this? Its feb now do you think flu risk is over now? I know if I ask doc or nurse they`ll say I need it...

Hi Yorkie,
I'm on Mtx and had the flu jab before Christmas, lots of people on here have also had it as we had a thread on it about September/October time. If your nurse has advised you to have it then there must still be a risk of getting flu, so it's your choice now.

I have one because of my work (care assistant), and my husband has one because hes diabetic. Personally I think they are fantastic, not very painful and very quick. I had a bit of a headache and felt a bit off that evening, but that is quite normal. I've only had real flu once and that was years ago, but I was SO ILL, and it took ages to get my normal energy back and I was only about 20  and fit and well. If your GP recommends it, I'd have it :!: LOve Suexx0

Hi Yorkie!
I had a flu jab before xmas because I really think it is better to be safer than sorry - flu is supposed to make your joints hurt really bad so I dread to think what it is like on top of arthritis. It is really quick and easy and you just have a sore arm for a couple of days - would rather that than the flu. Think if they are offering it you should go for it just in case.
Have a good day!

I have had my flu jab for the past few years - it is better safe than sorry while on MXT- because it lowers your immunity to infections - I would have it if I were you love jaspercatxx0

will take it religiousley every year now..quick painless,no side effects and cant make you ill or give you flu cos its not a live vaccine, can only advise that you have it,but its always the patients decision...is there a particular reason why your not keen?
NOT BOTHERED ABOUT INJECTION HAD ENOUGH BLOOD TESTS LATELY. jUST DONT LIKE THE IDEA OF WHATS GOING INTO MY BODY AND SOME PEOPLE GET ABAD COLD OR FLU AFTER IT. DONT WANT FLU OR A COLD. I THINK I BETTER HAVE ONE THOUGH.
THANKS FOR INFO.. YORKIE0
