I was prescribed arthrotec 75 yesterday [together with x-rays and blood tests]. I took my first after supper yesterday evening and spent the next 12 hours in terrible pain. The pain exactly like period pain [which I remember from the distant past!]. I spoke to a pharmacist who said that particular type of pain is not one I should have got! Wind yes, period pain no! I was wondering if anyone else had had a similar thing? Thanks for your help.

    Hi sharon :)

Arthrotec contains diclofenac and that does not agree with a lot of people, giving them gut disturbances such as diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, indigestion, constipation, flatulence.

Have you glanced at the side effects on the leaflet inside the arthrotec packet?

    Take care

Thanks for your reply. Yes I read the leaflet all the way through. The pains I got were not "bowely" if you see what I mean! But rather gynaecological. That's why the pharmacist said not to take any more at the moment. :)

    Hi
Yes I'd follow the chemists advice and not take the tablets again until you see your GP. I had an ulcer after taking them and it didn't give me any problems until it perforated. Sorry, I don't want to frighten anyone, and I think they give something to protect you from that now, I was just unlucky. But it something that should be checked, if you have problems. Love Sue xx
