    Hi
There are 2 main aspects to qualifying for DLA. One is the care element, which the toiletting and cooking issues would come under. The other is mobility, which is as it sounds! There are 2or 3 levels of award for each element, higher , middle and lower.
It is worth another look and perhaps asking for a pack which you can read through at length before attemting to complete it. If you do decide to apply , I would advise you ask CAB or welfare rights to help with how to complete the form. It does make a difference apparently. I am still waiting to hear about my application.

    Hi Yorkie

I'm still waiting here too, over 7 weeks now. I did say on my letter that until properly medicated I cannot cook let alone stand for longer than about ten seconds. I did state though once my medication has taken effect I can cope to some degree. My main issue though is not really myself but my children, currently I cannot lift or dress my baby until medication in my system, even then I cannot bath my baby in the evening. I really don't know how they will look at my claim considering I need the help to care for my children more than myself. Hopefully hear something soon.

do you get help with the children, social services should have home helps visit to help you with bathing them getting their clothes ready, beds made etc. You should phone and ask. Linda

    Hi Linda

I've wondered about that but I just assumed if I got DLA i could pay to get a carer to come, preferably for an hour in the mornings 3 days a week when I need to get the kids out of the house to childcare then to work. Do you know if working, earning an income etc affects this? thanks again, Alex
