Hi all :) ,I went in despite the terrible snow hoping and praying it wouldn't get cancelled again  , lots of staff couldn't make it in and it was begining to look like my surgeon and one of the anethetists were not going to turn up :( , lots of ops got cancelled, but then my surgeon and the other member of her team turned up so it was going ahead (gulp!) , so after waiting all morning I finally had it done at 2.30pm , I was rather poorly that evening (I'm normally fine) but came home the next afternoon!, so I'm laid up non weight bearing for 2 weeks then plaster change and able to weight bear gradually , it's going to be a long haul but hopefully worth it :)

    Hi sueandted
I`m really pleased for you that your op went ahead. I hope the recuperation time goes ok for you too. :D
It`s good to hear that your op went ok. I have my THR on 23rd so its reassuring to hear that other peoples op`s go well.

Hi. Good luck with your op and recovery.

Can I ask what made you decide on a fusion? I had an ankle replacement 21yrs ago and it failed after about 12yrs and I've been told my only other option is a fusion. Unfortunately I also have a fused knee and I wonder how two fused joints would impact on walking, driving etc?

I look forward to reading about your recovery.....

Hi, I had no choice but to have a fusion as my shin bones were shattered in a road accident 20yrs ago so were not straight enough to have a replacement (hope that makes sense!) , I wanted a replacement but the surgeon said it would fail almost straight away :( , don't know about your problem , but I do know it puts stress on other joints , but something I'll have to deal with x
