Hi,
I don't have ra, but I think it is possible for it to effect your eyes, but, it could well be something else and the best thing you can do is to get the doctor to check it for you. I'm sure someone else who has ra will answer this for you, though. Love Sue0 -
Hi Rebecca,
I don't know for sure, I have suspected RA but personally I think its AS and I get huge eye problems. I think if you can it might be wise to go to your eye cas dept. Just get it checked out. It may be nothing but it is best to go. Eye cas dept is much better than going to a dr. Mine go bloodshot fairly regually but there are many causes and they can tell you what it is and what it's not and give you drops if you need them. Please make sure you go. It's probably nothing but be on the safe side. Take care.0 -
I had problems with my eye, very minor but the doc said it was related to RA i think it can affect blood vessels behind the eye, I would get it checked out as my memory is rubbish and i could be wrong,
take care x0 -

Forgive me but do you get really blurred vision? Take care0 -
I had very slight blurred vision, it was only in my left eye, it was painful at the back of the eye.0

scottishlass wrote:I get blurred vision...but to be honest i think its due to the Methotrexate,or one of the many other drugs im on
PS,i also have RA.
methotrexate so perhaps it's the methotrexate thats also causing
the bloodshot it is worrying the amount of drugs we have to take
they all have side effects thanks for the reply love rebecca0 -
Hi Rebecca,
Please just go to the eye casulty people. It's probably nothing to worry about but there are so many reasons it could be there. I will make you promise! You really should do. Or phone them direct. Take care, Cris
Rosie and Scotishlass I would love to know will the blurr lead to blindness, it's one of my biggest fears! Maybe I should start another thread and not hi-jack poor Rebeccas (sorry). I don't want to go into real detail but sufice to say I get a lot of blurr and pain behind an eye and very occasinally behind both. Take care, Cris0 -

Hi Rebecca,
I understand that one. there isn't anything to worry about (I'm told) till it happens......... It doesn't help! However there are little simple things that can make your eye be bloodshot, I just think you'd be wise to go to the eye casulty. They are very nice and the little blue light is incredible! I really would like one of those. I honestly do undrstand where your coming from, I think I'd rather loose a limb than my sight though please don't let me choose. I think you should just go in, they aint going to tell you anything horrible indeed they kept stressing to me to remember the blurr will go, it could take a bit of time but it does kinda self right. Mine have been doing this for over 10 years now and I still have sight outside of the grey bit. Please don't worry but have it looked at. Take care, cris0 -
hi, i find i get eye problems and i was told by rheumy it was probably RA related.
i find my eyes can gey abit weepy / sticky (sorry) sometimes and my vision does get blurry sometimes to.
i feel like i have conjuctivitus (spelling?) some days but it goes as quick as it comes and never actually gets worse. i do sometimes get very dry eyes to.
i guess it could be meds or RA? who knows!!

Just to add that I had an eye bleed last year. I noticed it in a toilet mirror when I was washing my hands. I looked up and saw a startling amount of fresh blood halfway across the white of my eye - it looked as though I was going to cry blood tears. I dabbed it with a tissue and there was nothing there - it was also painless. I went on the NHS Website and found out that it's quite harmless and happens when a blood vessel in the white of your eye bursts. It did take a couple of weeks to slowly be reabsorbed by my body but it did look as though someone had punched me in it.
Does this sound similar to what you have - if it is then it's not RA related?
I do agree with everyone else though it's best to get your GP to have a look for you, sight is so precious.
