Hi there, i'm 24 and have RA in my left hip, its been nearly a year now. About 6 months ago i had a really bad reaction to sulfaz which left me jaundice. So the rheumatologis keeps avoiding putting me on tablets until his really sure my liver is okay, its been 6months, i've had many blood test since and im always told that my liver is okay yet they still avoid it. Its very frustrating!
I saw him on Friday, he sent me for another blood test and then to have another one just before i seen him next time (4months).
He also sent me for a X-ray.
After my X-rays and also after my last few blood tests i get the feeling they think im making it all up!! 'oh your inflammatory levels look fine from your test' and ' the X-rays looks all okay'

I know other people have it worse, but i have pain in my hip every day and im really uncomfortable.... so why does it feel like im lying or something? or over acting?

Does anyone know what i mean?
Has anyone else had delays on getting medication?

hi,im sure some1 with r/a will come along. i myself have o/a so cant give u advice on drugs. im sure the drs are just being careful as many drugs for r/a have to have regular blood test done i think for liver problems. as i said im not an expert on r/a.
i have had real problems since march 08 & realy had to beg for painkillers for months until i eventually got cocodomol 8/500mg they could just about kill off a headache  iv now been through several combinations of tablets & patches & im finally getting a little relief on;cocodomol 30/500,ibupofen,amptryline,zomorph & oramorph. its took trips nearly every wk to gps to get this far with meds.
the burtrans patches the rhmy put me on made me so sick iv had to come off them. good luck & keep pushing for ur pain releif.

Hi, I'm sure your doc don't think yor're acting, they really need to be careful if you've had jaundice, as the liver needs to recover and medication - even paracetamol are not good for it.

They seem to be watching you very carefully so they can step in if things get really bad. It must be horrible suffering pain and not having something to help you properly. Have you tried putting an ice pack on it for a while, frozen peas wrapped in a towel will do! or, a hot pad helps me a lot. Being a whimp I don't like cold  Hope this is helpful. Love Sue

    Hi Sheenie,
I sympathise with you here. I too get the feeling that the drs think I'm making it all up. I'm sick of hearing "Your bloods are normal" and "your x-rays are fine" I've had this for 20yrs and it's getting to be a bit annoying  I've been off work cos of the pain and swelling . My Gp is sympathetic but there's only so much they can do for me-it's all up to the rhuemys. They nearly put me on sulphasalazine but decided against it cos 'my bloods and x-rays were fine' :? I'm on amytriptilline, co-dydramol and etodolac but they don't really help. I just wanted you to know that I too feel the same. Take care,

When I was first having problems my Dr seemed to think I was over egging it. Give the man his due though, the minute I got fully diagnosed he was a star. If I phone and speak to him he tells me just to come down to the surgery right away even for my baby when he got chicken pox, he saw us right away.
