Hi

After lurking for a while, I have decided to sign on.

I am 48 and have mild/moderate OA in my right big toe joint - about 20% movement. I have been given the option of a clean up or fusion or wait a while. I am reluctant and therefore waiting.

I have degenerative disc disorder (which is OA with another name, I think) in my lower back - also in my neck I think.

Over the last month and a bit I have developed clicky wrists and an slightly swollen and clicking left ankle - no signs before.

I hope that the cold weather is a significant factor.

I may go to the docs I think.

I don't take/need pain meds.

anyway, it's good to be on here at last!

    Hi TW,

Welcome to the forum. I, too, lurked for a while before taking the courageous step and voicing my opinion - now you can't shut me up

Reading your post maybe a trip to your GP would be a good idea otherwise your clicks and swellings may start to worry you - it's probably nothing but even so anything caught in it's early stages is always easier to deal with.

    Hi Tony
Welcome to the site! I hope that you find the forum/site as supportive and informative as I have. I have OA, bilateral hip dyplasia and am having a THR next Monday. (I`m 40) I am hoping that I will get my life back on track after the replacment, and I can then say I am living with arthritis, not being held back by it!!

Hi Tony, welcome to the Forum, it's much better to participate than lurk  I find the cold is a factor. I was out last Wednesday and had been extra sore all day, we amazingly being in Scotland had completely missed the snow. I said to my hubby on coming in at 7pm "it's brass monkeys out there, my back's killing me, it's going to snow" Oh how he laughed until the next morning we looked out the window and saw about 7 inches of it! I'd heard people with arthur predict the weather when it's going to get cold or rain and it's true. I should add I never knew at first how my symptoms suddenly got severe last October until the quack told me I'd be better during warmer months.

    Hi Tony
Like you I am relatively new to this, and like you I have degeneration in lower spine and neck I have had this since I was 38 (now 53) I didnt even realise that this was OA until recently, now I have OA in both hips. When you go to docs Good Luck hope you get more joy than I did, but at least you can bounce around your thoughts and feelings on this website and get support from others in similar positions.
    Denise.
