hiya, all im asking is to take the edge off my pain in which ive suffered constantly for many years in all my joints, but now ive been told i need a knee replacement and a op on my ankle, but there is complications-and thats another story!! so id be gratefull if people let me know what painkiller works best for them please?
i cant walk further than a few yards a time, and havent had any fresh air for weeks, due to the pain in most of my joints,so i need more than over the counter painkillers, anti inflams did help but gp wont give me anymore due to side effects.
to top it all off i suffer with the sickness and stomach problems related to strong painkillers but with any suggestions from here il mention a anti-sickness tablet to my gp.
thanks

Hello , Im taking Co-Codamol (5oomg) at the moment after my op , they are very quick to work and don't give me any problems , I also suffer with my stomach after having ulcers but these seem ok , you can get different strengths so may be worth asking about them with your gp0

Hi
Sorry to heat you're struggling, my doctor prescribed me some Co-codamol tablets (30/500) which are stronger than you can get over the counter, they really took the edge off my pain but were very hard on the stomach but I do take a stomach protector. They also made me quite sleepy but that did have its advantages when taking them at night. Thankfully my tablets control my pain so I only use them when having a bad flare up.

Hi I take Remedeine forte which is a gain a paracetamol codeine mix but is dihydrocodeine 30mg. I'm not sure what the differnce is but it's something to do with the way they work on your system. I also take Diclofenic I have had no problem with my stomach but have had other side effects with taking MTX as well. The other thig you could try is a tens machine I met someone last week who uses it for an RA hip and she thought it was marvelous. I do remember one of the chemists Lloyds had them on special but you may be able to borrow one from the clinic.
Hope that helps and good luck0 -
i find co codamol a good pain killer and solpadol from joanne priceJoanne0

Tramdol, diclofenac and solpadol work for me but I can't take the tramdol and solpadol together. The diclofenac is good because like paracetamol it builds up in your system so is more effective as you keep taking it. If you take that long term you will need to take something to ensure it doesn't irritate your stomach such as Omneprazole.0

Hi, I am currently taking Tramadol, they are very good but make you feel very drowsy, I sleep for 90 mins after taking them, for moderate pain I used to take Co-codamol 30/500, I would suggest a visit to your gp and have a chat with him/her love Jaspercatxx0

Hi
In the last few weeks I tried Tramadol but they messed with my head I think they just haddle your brain to take your mind off the pain.
Then last week I changed to 30/500 co-codamol I dont know if they are very effective with taking the pain away but they dont mess with your head quite as much.
Its whatever works for you.
Good Luck

I hope that your Dr. Can help you with this issue. Linda0 -

just reading your reply here, has been most helpful for me, as regards diclofenic, and paracetamol, I think I am taking over too short a period and should let it build up as you say, as for solpadol I must find out about it,

How effective are anti-inflammatory painkillers?
After a single dose, they work at least as well as paracetamol to ease pain, and they may even be better. With repeated doses, they also reduce inflammation. This may further reduce pain and stiffness that occurs with inflammatory conditions such as arthritis and muscle sprains. So, you might not notice the maximum effect for up to 1-3 weeks after starting a course of tablets.
If I understand it right, to reduce inflammation you need to continue taking anti-inflammatiries regularly for a few weeks -- whether you're in pain or not.
It's no good just taking them when the pain is bad.0 -

Hi Nicky, try taking them at the prescribed times, as someone else mentioned if you miss a batch you will notice it. I used to miss my diclofenac as I felt ok but I'd suffer for it the next day, remember though that Solpadol has paracetmol in it so don't take both or any other products with it in it at same time. Solpadol can make you drowsy at first but if you stick with them, that feeling subsides and you just get total pain relief.0
