housing problem

This is a difficult problem to explain but here goes. When I was offered my flat I didn't realise it was in the u.k's first eco
development and no cars were allowed past the gate. However the
housing advisor reassured me that I would be allowed access to get
dropped off by taxi or for shopping to be delivered so I signed the
missive. A few years ago people were breaking the rules and cars
were parking all the time and were going to be stricter. I was still
allowed G.P wrote so all was well until 2 wks ago when the housing ****. decided to withdraw access and make everyone reapply. Now I told I am only allowed access at the discretion of the concierge and have received nothing in writing. I have never abused the access and feel I am being punished for other peoples selfishness. I hardly used the gate but as R.A is unpredictable I want to be sure I am not going to be left at the gate particularly on a bad day or dark night.
They promote this place as an "excellent place" for disabled people to live. As long as you have a sign telling people you are disabled.
Hoping to get some legal advice. Also they have ignored requests from myself and O.T to sort out the refuse bin storage area to make it accessible for everyone

sorry to hear about your problem.

only thing I can think to say is if you challenged you could ask them how their policy reflects the disability discrimination act - you could check to see how this covers your situation. CAB might be able to help you.

    best of luck!

    Hi !

    What a frustrating situation.

I agree with the previous post that you need to check out the legal situation just in case it gets to that point.

CAB are very good but very busy so it can be hard to get through to them / get an appointment. I think other sections of this site can give advice ???

Definitely worth getting 'genned up' - knowledge is power!

Hope it all works out - keep us posted!

    Take care.
