I was diagnosed with RA just after Christmas and am currently taking naproxen. I am waiting blood results to see wether i can go on to methotrexate.
My pain is sevre in feet, ankle, knee, shoulder, wrist and fingre joints.
Will there be a benefit from Meth that will outway the possible side effects.
I have lost an active lifestyle for a life of pain.
Any advice welcome,
Thank you.[/code]

Hello
Disease modifying drugs like Methotrexate act on your overactive immune system which is attacking your joints. They are designed to slow down the progress of RA and protect your joints against damage. You should see a reduction in inflammation, swelling and pain in your joints.
Methotrexate is now one of the standard treatments for RA and current thinking suggests that early treatment is advised.
Best wishes
