Just wondering if there are any fitness freaks like myself out there who have Arthritis.
I am 28 years old and just been told I have arthritis in my pelvis and spine following MRI scan. Also, likely knees (having arthroscopy in about 8 weeks) and thumbs.
I am sports and fitness mad and was wondering how others coped / what sports they participated in.
I love my running. not really too keen on swimming.

    Hi Bailey
I am so sorry that you are having to cope with arthritis at such a young age. Have you seen the forum for young people on this site? It might be useful to you.

In my area, the doctor can refer you to a special class for people with varoius conditions. They will assess you and work out a fitness programme tailored to your needs. The advice is very good. Maybe there is a similar thing in your area. Ask your doctor. I live in Derbyshire.

I would be careful with running because of your spine and knees. It is high impact and could make the arthritis worse. You need advice from an expert, I think.
    Take care
    Joan

    Hi
We have a scheme here, which allows a doctor to refer you to a gym with medically trained trainers who work out a programme for each individual and help those of us that need assistance. I am waiting for a place, as my GP has referred me for 8 weeks. After that you can join the gym and follow the plan and if you go when the trainers are there they will help if you need it. The people who are referred are all ages and ablities, from the very fit, who have problems, like you, to elderly people who have had strokes and can do very little alone. Thats what I do, I went last year, but had to give up for a while and so I'm going back to square 1  :) . Not sure its available everywhere. Love Sue
