I have been taking solpadine for severe OA in the hands and wrists but after a few months I found it did not help with the pain so I changed to paramol. That did not help much either.Today I saw my GP and he has prescribed Solpadol saying that it is stronger than the two other types I have been using. The sopadol he has prescribed is the effervescent tablets which contain 500mg paracetamol and 30mg codeine. Has anyone else taken this medication and has it helped with their pain? :? Many thanks,Breane.

    Hi,
Yes, I buy it over-the-counter when my co-dydramol run out. I buy it as co-codamol, which is cheaper, but its a big tablet to swollow. :? I am not sure of the codine strength, as some gps prescribe higher codine doses than you can buy. I find it helps a bit but not as much as the painkiller my gp prescribes. Better than plane paracetamol though. I hope this is helpful and that your pain is relieved a bit for you. Go back if not = theres lots of other drugs that can be prescribed for you. Love Sue

    Hi Breane
It is good I think, but it sends me out of my tree!!!! (so do co-cos and co dydramol though I am a wimp!
    Ha ha!
    Love it!!!
Have you tried it yet? If not I suggest you start out slowly e'g only one and at night to be sure you're safe to drive etc.
    Good luck

Solpadol is a "branded" co-codamol- my preferred brand as I don't know why but they help me to sleep better!!! Must be in the mix because the amount of active ingredients are the same as other co-codamols. Can't take Kapake (another brand) within 20 minutes of taking it I'm almost suicidal and spend the next couple of hours crying!
My Mother-in-law finds that she reacts to different brands of the same drugs and once almost went into "shock" from one drug she took having taken another brand of the same drug safely before. After speaking to the pharmacist she was told it could have something to do with the food colourant used in the drug!!!
You just don't know what you are taking at times!!
