Hi
As you know I had my THR last week and came home from hospital on Saturday. Since then I noticed a few spots on my face and neck, which have grown into blister type spots. I also have new ones on my arms and back! I had chickenpox as a child and am wondering if its shingles. My GP asked if I could go down to the surgery this morning......NO I am 1 week post op. So I am waiting for a visit now.
So I am feeling very sorry for myself. I have a swollen sore leg, a long wound/scar, elbow crutches and now a spotty face and body too!! Gorgeous!!!!
Ok moan over!

Hi.
I hope the GP can sort you out. I think if its shingles they can give you something if they catch it quickly. Fingers crossed. This is what you don't need now. :? Good luck. Love Sue0 -

You must be feeling horrible, i had a THR a couple of years ago that is bad enough to cope with . After reading your posts you have really gone through it . I had shingles years ago and they really make you feel ill, they gave me a injection to stop me getting them again it seems you can have pain for years if you dont have the injection. I hope thats not it but has you are probably run down in your imume system will be low it may be. I hope you feel better soon chin up ( easy for me to say) ........Alicea0 -

Thanks for the flowers....they smell lovely!
My GP says he thinks it is chicken pox again rather than shingles, and has given a prescription for Eurax and vallergen. I should sleep non stop with all the stuff I take!!
I am trying my best not to scratch but its awful!
I really must have been a bad person in my past life!!!
At least I couldn`t go out anyway!

Hi,
What a nightmare, if it's not one thing it's another. Hope your feeling better soon. Jo x0 -
Oh poor you. Hope you're feeling better very soon.
I wonder if there is going to be an outbreak at the hospital now, can just see the headlines.
Take care and get better very soon.

Oh no,
I do hope you feel much better soon - at least you have to rest !0 -
Hi
Rita, I have already contacted the ward in case of any imunno suppressed patients or possible pregnant staff. The problem is you are infectious before you know you have it. I was worried that it could affect the wound as I was incubating it at the time of surgery.
I had it as a child and nursed both my children through it, as well as children I nursed in hospital, so why it has decided to pay another visit I don`t know!!
My friend texted me earlier saying she was shopping in town and did I want anything. I replied, "yes a new body, from the body shop. This one is knackered!"
I`m still waiting for it to be delivered!0 -
hi NB, sorry to hear of your spots on top of everything else! Im following your progress, in regards as to when I have my op, so Im hoping I dont get any spots too Think you have enough to cope with nevermind chicken pox, but you no what they "it never rains but it pours!" Best wishes jk0

Oh bless, I can imagine what your going through, chicken pox is so uncomfortable let alone having it when you've just had major surgery.
My daughter had it when she was pregnant, the son she had was the only one of her children who didn't get it so it must of given him an immunity to it.
Take care, I'm just wondering if Tesco's are doing a line in new bodies, at least I could get the reward points.

Oh no  , what can I say other than I hope you feel a bit less itchy and spotty soon , take care x0

crikey ....... poor you!
I had Chicken pox twice although they say it isn't supposed to happen more than once  but as we all know 'normal' doesn't apply when arthur is around!
Hope you soon feel better and that you don't get too many more spots!
keep smiling if you can!0 -
Hi Wonkylegs
I haven`t noticed too many more this morning, but I am so tired I can heardly open my eyes to look! The eurax cream is good at reducing the itching, but I can`t take the vallergan as it is not advised with amitryptiline or morphine. I didn`t fancy trying use elbow crutches whilst zonked anyway!
As for 2nd doses of chicken pox and arthur, If arthur wanted a dose of them I would rather he had had them himself and not shared them with me! He`s a generous soul that arthur isn`t he?

Hope you feel better soon. Shingles is usually around the back area (where a belt would go) I think. My daughter had it when she was 14 years old and it was painful to touch.

get well hugs coming your way, you poor thing, me and my 2 brothers all had chickenpox when we were young but i still remember being told not to pick or scratch by my mum!!
it's doing the rounds at my eldest daughters school at the moment, i had a panic on the weekend as sarah (my 2 yr old) had a couple of red spots round her nappy area and her tummy but they haven't come to anything so i'm guessing it's not the pox!!! at least i hope not.
as for ellie, she is 10 yrs old and she has never had it, even though it went round preschool at least 4 times when she was there and it has gone round school many times to, i wonder whether she could just be immune to it naturally? as i would hate for her to get it now she's older, she would pick her spots for sure!!!!
anyway, enough of my moaning, i really hope you feel better soon. sue x0 -
Poor you, hope you are soon feeling better, still I suppose its making you rest which must be good for you
take care

Well now it`s snowing here so I definately wouldn`t be going out! Even if I didn`t have the pox or just had a THR. A few more spots have reared their heads today but not many thank goodness.
I have been more tired today and even had a little nap. Not like me at all!
Can`t wait for them to scab over :roll:0 -
Hi,
Really sorry to hear you've got chickenpox. Not very nice as an adult, I know. I had it about 7 years ago, and was covered in spots. and the itching.... :x . My Mum had told me I had it as a baby, but someone told me you can have it twice, either that or Mum mixed me up with one of my siblings!!
Anyway, I hope you soon start to feel better. Not the best way for you to get over the op. Love Sue xx0
