Hi everyone, feel the need for a moan today. Im SUPPOSED to be having a THR this month. However, I feel Im being given the runaround. I saw my consultant last week, signed my consent form, had xrays etc, no date. Waiting for beds. Fine. Then had a letter inviting me and my hubby to a joint replacement clinic. Rang today for an appointment, and was told none available till april. so I explained I was waiting for a bed etc, "1 April your op is down for" said the nice receptionist. News to me! So Ive decided not to bother with the clinic where I should meet all the physios etc, as it looks like I will already have met them and will know what I should have expected lol! 1 April, hope its not an April Fool

Hi
It looks like the age old problem of poor communication!!! I hope they keep to this date for you (not an April fool!) Do you think you could make an appointment for the clinic, which you can cancel if you have had your op. Just thinking, if they have changed the dates before, having a back up appoitment in the clinic will allow you to see someone who can chase things up if your op is moved again. Just an idea!

Hi NB, Good advice, I think thats what I will do. Im just getting frustrated with all the waiting etc, I keep having to alter arrangements at home, as I thought I wouldve had the op by now and hubby is on tenterhooks wanting to put in some annual leave, still I dont think the hospital admin lot think about that. Hope your doing ok, the weather seems to be getting a little better now, lets hope spring is here at last and you can get out and about, take care jk 8)0

Hi Jk
I know what you re your hubby being on stand by. These times affect more than the person having the op. My hubby took the day off when I went in as I was told I was 2nd on the list, and he wanted to keep me company until I went down. We arrived at 7 am for admission, and after being clerked in and seen by nurses, doctor and anaesthetist I was wheeled to theatre/anaesthestics at 8.30! Leaving my hubby at a loose end and not knowing what to do. I was expecting to go to the post op ward later that day , and for my hubby to see me later in the day, but I was kept in the recovery ward overnight with no visitors. This was to monitor my pain relief apparently, but my hubby was hoping to have spent his day off keeping me company as much as he could.
The 1st April will come round sooner than you think, I know once I got my date it came quickly for me.I hope it does for you too.
Is your hubby taking his time off when you come home from hospital?
