my incap benefit runs out on 11th March 2009 .I have just been looking at the letter i received from the DHSS last year and its states the following...
Your case is due to come up for a normal review on 11/3/2009.We may contact you again after that date and you may be asked to fill in another questionaire or to be called in for medical examination.
Could anyone help me as to what a normal review is please ?
Thanks
Sheila

Hi Sheila
I'm sure someone better qualified than me will be able to tell you better, but I think it's just that they only give you the benefit for a period of time and they will want to check out that your circumstances haven't changed.
Take care

i jad to go to the benefit place and have an interview, it's because they are trying to get people off incap benefit and into work.0

I think Suz is right - the Government are supposed to be aiming for that. Shouldn't be a problem for you though if there's been no change.

Hi
I am on ESA (new version of incap ben) and have been since just after Christmas. I am waiting for a date for someone to do a home medical, as they asked me to go to a medical a week after my THR. Although I know I am legitimally unable to work at the moment, it does make me feel nervous all the same. I suppose they are just trying to stop people claiming for benefits when they shouldn`t be entitled. As someone has already posted, you will be ok if things haven`t changed or improved.

I hate the way they do these medicals, such a shame innocent and genuine people have to go through the stress of it all. My partner has restless legs and involuntry body movements and It Is very stressful for him when the medical comes up, even though we know he could never work, that fear is still there.
Thinking of you xxx0 -
Hi,
I agree the medical is a problem and worry we can do without. Last year I returned to work before the medical was due and although I was at work, I kept getting phone calls telling me I must go for a medical or I wouldn't get incapacity benifit. I said, on more than one occasion that I was now working, but they said that unless I went for a medical I would keep getting phone calls! In the end I phoned the DHS and they corrected it for me. More money and time wasted. Love Sue (sorry to rant  )0 -
Mine is up for a renewal on the 19th of March and I am really stressed about having to go for an interview. I feel already that they won't believe me and my condition and I think the stress is making my RA worse. I'm hoping they won't want to see me but I doubt I will be so lucky0

With regards to medicals, I would have someone with you to verify any answers you give. My brother lost his and when we appealed and received the copy of the Doctors report she had lied about his answers. I had been present an was able to challenge the answers suggesting she may have mistakenly answered some questions wrongly. It was only when we appeared in front of the appeals panel and they realised my brother who has sever heart problems would not possibly have given the answers recorded.
It did not take away the many weeks of stress he was placed under. Linda0 -
I think its just a formality
