Hello,
Title says it all I'm afraid. Don't know what to do with myself. I feel work-wise, I'm just going through the motions and counting down the hours till hometime! My toes/feet are bothering me and now I have a very painful left thumb. When I was driving this morning and changed gear, I felt (and I'm sure I heard something) snap in my thumb. It feels all grissly?
I also have pains going across my chest again :? Honestly don't know what to do and I'm turning into a right grumpy c*w!

    Hi Magenta

All your going through now is forced to take it out of you but hang on in there. Can you see your GP and maybe get different pain relief and get everything checked again.

    Hiya,
My GP's all say their hands are tied when it comes to prescribing anything for me-leave it to rhuemys etc. I'm due to go back to rhuemys in 2wks so I'll be going in with a very long list. Thanks

Don't want to teach my granny to suck eggs - so I expect you've tried all the usual like hot and cold pads??
If you have I know your GP has givn youwhat he can so I just hope you can hang on in there until two weeks time :(
    Take care

Hi Magenta, You're having a tough time. :( Pain makes you tired does'nt it? Hope the next time you see the Reummy, they can help with the pain relief, at least. Take care, Love Sue

Right -- you've got to get these doctors working for you.

    My advice:

If your GP says his hands are tied ask for a secod opinion in the practice.

If that gets nowhere -- or better concurrently -- speak with the Rheumatologist -- explain that the GPs refuse to help and that you're suffering. You shouldn't have to suffer unnecessarily for two seconds, never mind two weeks. And certainly not because of doctors' intransigence.

Rheumatologist can speak to you on the phone, like everyone else.

The Rheumatiologist can surely contact the GP to give him permission to prescribe for you. Or he can see you and prescribe himself.

It's only pain killers -- not DMARDs you're after urgently. It's not rocket science -- unless you've got complications I don't know about. I bet many people on this site would know what to prescribe!

It's very bad really -- all these medics know that Atheritis pain is serious and real -- but they're sittling on their hands. Disgraceful.

I once read something in a post on this site that stuck in my mind -- someone said that his Rheumatologist thinks he's a pain, because he's always asking questions etc. But he doesn't care: he knows that his pain is worse than theirs.

And as a school teacher I can tell you (maybe I shouldn't put this in a public place) -- the parents who make the most fuss at school get the best service for their children.

I bet the same is true of the NHS.

    Hi
averyniceman is right!! you deserve better treatment! Im off to my gp tonight for better painkillers etc.

I know how you feel. I was sooooooo down last year when I was first diagnosed and during the summer had had enough as well. I went camping for the first time since i became ill and it was a night mare. I ended up overdosing on my painkillers because i forgot i took some (too many scouts to look after) and thought my tent was inside out and the clouds were attacking me!!
The next day I was useless and it took me an hour to get out of bed, physically! My scouts helped me tie my boots and i watched them abseil (well i slept most of the day) That was my lowest point, but i feel like im bounding back now!! I even camped in february!! Finger crossed. Dont give up and give in to arthur!!! Keep going.

    BIG BIG HUGSSS

    Thanks everyone
You've all cheered me up-thanks. I wish I could take you all with me to my rhuemy. After the initial appointment with a consultant, I always end up getting a 'young' and usually 'know-it-all' dr. Is that the same with everyone else?

Averyniceman-you know how my feet and toes are killing me? I fell down some stairs today at work and landed right on my toes (think ballerina!). I'm now in agony-didn't know whether to laugh or cry

    Hope everyone is well
