Sorry to hear about your neck pain & cannot be of much help. I know how difficult it must be for you having to cope with a job when in pain.

I too, suffer from neck and referred pain and have pins and needles in my left arm. but mine is manageable. I will be following your progress as my GP told me I might have a pinched nerve that needs unblocking. I am still waiting to hear from the orthopaedic consultant for an appointment. I have been on the waiting list for physio treatment since mid Jan. At least, you have had some tests done, I only had an X-Ray on neck and shoulder. Please keep me posted on your appointment at the spine clinic.

I too have oa in my lower spine and my neck. Its really good that your GP has referred you to the spine clinic. You will see people there who will be able to give you proper treatment and painrelief, maybe physio to help strengthen the mucscles. You ask will it better, this is a question to talk over with the doctors. It will depend on your individual problems, no two people are the same and what helps one will not do anything for someone else. :? . I'd love to be able to say yes, of course it will just go away, but the chances are that it won't go compleatly, it may, of course, but you can certianly expect to get a lot less pain and learn how best to teat it. Have you tried a heat pad or hot water bottle? It helps me. Or some people prefer ice packs, peas from the freezer are OK. :) I'm glad you came on to this site, people will have lots of helpful information. All best wishes, Love Sue PS I find that a memory foam pillow and mattress topper help me. :)

    Hiya Nellie

    Mr first post here. :)

Has anyone mentioned cervical sponylosis to you ? It can be a very painful condition, I was diagnosed 3 years ago, after what I thought was a 'crick' in my neck, my arms and hands were becomming numb and painful, it turns out my spinal cord was too narrow and was crushing the nerves. I had an op 17 months ago which has relieved the symptoms in my arms and hands, but I am still in alot of pain, and as it is a degenerative condition needs pain management.

    Take Care

    Emxx :)

Just noticed your post above re tiredness, my neurosurgeon commented on this, saying how insidious cs was and how the tiredness crept up on you, he wasn't kidding, I remember spending so much time lying down unable to do anything.
