Hi all, :)

Just wondering if anyone suffers with cs? I have it at both ends so to speak  I had a cervical laminectomy 17 months ago, with an option to have a lumber op ( which I am declining).

Would love to hear from any fellow sufferers.

Take Care

Emxx :)

I have oa in my cervical spine and in my lumber spine, but I havn't had surgery. I'm 53 and I've had it a while, but only causing me real problems and pain for the last year, the neck that is, I've had problems with my lumber spine for some time. I have codydramol and amatriptyline for the pain. I also have carpel tunnel syndrome, which I have to see plastics for to do release surgery!!! Told my sister, on the phone I was having a face lift and she believed me! Went on and on about how stupid I was and I didn't need it yet! When I started laughing and told her the truth, she did't know whether to laugh or tell me off!!!

Sounds as if you have been having a hard time. I hope the neck surgery helped you. The reummy I saw said I didn't need surgery yet and it was a 'tricky' op. I too, feel that at the moment, I can cope as I am. Glad you found the site. Yours Sue

Hi, I have OA lumber and sacral area. I'm not a candidate for surgery as mines is too advanced but I practically begged them for it, the chances of being better even for a short time far outweighed the risks for me. Even them saying paralysis I said I'd go for it. Everyone's different though and it really must be your decision, think it through best you can and don't let anyone pressure you into going/not going for it. Best of luck with your decision. Alex x

Hi I have OA and just had cervical surgery, my lumbar area is causing problems and physio is trying to help with this. Given the relief I feel from the cervical surgery even in the second week, I know if it gets worse I would opt for lumbar surgery if I felt I had nothing else to try. Linda

hi,iv got cerical & lumber spondy too.
i only have 70% movement in my neck,iv lost athird of the use of my
shoulders(raising arms above my head) the pain radiates from neck
across shoulders,& down to my elbows.
the lumber isnt as bad,low back pain but limits me on bending,as it increases pain,& walking increases pain. my physio thinks i have it in thoratic as well. will have to wait for my cat scan to see how bad things r.but it does look like its the whole spine affected along with hands, knees, left hip & ankles have just desided to join in. debsx

    Hi all
I too have OA of cervical, and low lumber/sacral spine
The cervical affects me at night - pins and needles even deadness of the arm on whatever side i am lying on - Means my sleep is interrupted a lot
The lower spine is the worst -mainly on my R side into buttock and down R leg
Has anyone heard of the X-stop -a spinal spacer It is a titinium insert, to seperate the lower vertebrae and ease the symptoms caused by pressure on the nerves ?
I understand it is available on the NHS and is "minimally invasive " -
It can be removed if necessary

I too have CS worse neck end really painful I am now waiting for facet joint injections but would willingly have any op to get rid of pain lack of mvbement etc have heard talk of a spinal spacer would have it done if it was offered anything is worth trying its a pity they cant give neck spine replacements but rheuymy always says its the worse place to have arthurititis which is very helpful and cheery as any ops are risky
