Back from the Neurologist

Hi everyone,
I saw the neurologist this afternoon, as the rheummy suspected Myaesthnia Gravis. After a good nuero exam, he said he thought all the smyptoms are from the arthritis in my neck and that he'd be more than surprised if I had Myasthenia! He sent me for a blood test as that is the final thing, to rule it out, but said that was for my piece of mind not his. He was very kind, considerate and discussed everything with me. Like me, he was surprised the rheummy sent me!
I feel much more relaxed now, he said that people with arthritis do get very tired, and pain makes the muscles weak. I said I thought when I was in pain, I would walk and move akwardly, which made my musles tired and optician had given me a prescription which cured the double vision when I'm tired and explained that I had a problem with my right eye muscles because fo the astigmatism getting worse.
I'll be pleased to get a negative blood test, but I feel much better. Even if I had the disease, I would feel confident with treatment from a doctor who takes time and explains things. Does that make sense? Thanks for the support and good wishes. Love Sue xxx

Hi Sue
Ignore my post on the other thread asking about appointment.
The doc you saw today sounds really good and reassuring. I`m glad that he is pretty sure it isn`t myasthena (sp?), but I`m sure you`ll feel altogether relieved when the bloods are back.
Have a nice relaxing night!

Thanks to everyone for the support. I will be pleased to get the blood test result. The Neurologist I saw was great, even if I do have, very unlikely I know, but if I do have to a positive result and have this nasty disease, he made me feel that I could trust him and I would be happy be treated by him. I felt that I mattered and was not just another patient and for me this is important in the treatment process. Love Sue0

Hi Sue
Glad to hear how you are doing.
That sounds like good news - need to cross our fingers for a negative result though
Good team around you I am pleased.
Take care

Hi Sue,
So glad you've got the appointment out of the way and it also sounds as if you're relieved to have a neurologist who's had the time to listen and talk to you - it means so much more when we're treated like a person and not a lump of flesh.
Fingers crossed that your bloods are okay.
Keep us posted.

hi Sue, I am so glad you had a positive appointment.
Your post helped me in another way also, I have been worried about my eyes, I find I squint, when I read your post I called myself all sorts of names...it only happens when I am really tired or sore. Duh!
Hope all goes well in the future. Linda0
