A question for THR veterans

Hi
I am coming up for 6 weeks post op and am getting a bit more mobile. I am still using my crutches most of the time, at the advice of my physio, as I had a bit of groin pain last week and was diagnosed with bursitis. Advice given to slow down, easier said than done though.
Overall the pain is much better, unless I do too much  , but I was wondering if there is anyone out there who has had a THR and could answer a few questions for me please.
How long before I can kneel? Are there some things which I won`t be able to do even when hip precautions have ended? When can you lie on operated side ?
I will probably have more questions if anyone comes forward to answer, but I won`t overwhelm you yet!!
I have 3 weeks still before I see my consultant again, and would love to have a few answers before then.
I will look forward to hearing from you
NB

Hi i had a THR 2 years ago it drove me mad not being able to turn on that side even after the time you are'nt allowed to turn over it takes a long time to be able to lay on it because the skin and the flesh stay painful for a good few months. They make you feel you are'nt doing as much as you should, i found when i went to see them at the hospital and caught up with the people who had there op at the same time all had the same troubles. As for kneeling in time you will be able to kneel i just managed it when i had to have a TKR on the other side and havent managed to kneel down since ,i had the knee done july last year. I am really glad i had it done the pain was more than i could live with and the pain as never come back since it is great. You will want to get going to fast if you are any thing like me and i got told off a lot. but i think it took 12 months to get my hip feeling like it was mine and no pain, so be a little nicer to yourself it will be worth it in the end. If you have anything else you want to compare or wondering about i am happy to help all the very best look after yourself and your new hip ..........alicea0

Hi
Thanks for that! It is good to have someone a bit further down the line than I am to discuss things with. The booklets that the hospital gave only talk about first couple of weeks post op and I keep wondering if what I am feeling etc is normal for my stage post op.
thanks again
