commenting on the value of using knee supports

I had thought i may have said too much that was shall we say, superfluous and boring, in which case forgive me. but i had to make a comment on my experience using knee supports.
The problem is, who to advise you on this., so, taking it from my doctor to try things for myself, i have so far used successfully, the vulcan knee support, and though my knee has been very bad and I had wondered about seeing a consultant or something, I had a walk this morning, using this support, and the relief was impressive.
I think i have a size too small, and have now ordered some more, but like all these matters experience is often the best judge in these things. they really do work, at least for me and for osteo. my knee was reaching a point where even a small walk was becoming hard work, but somehow the support seems to bring the patella in, to stop movement, around the socket I suppose and thus stop the causes of inflammation.
I am not wearing the support now, and my knee feels almost back to normal. most impressively so.
whilst the cost of buying these is a bit daunting, it is worth every penny if it saves our legs from becoming immobile.
I am not pushing the vulcan line of supports, as tesco and boots both sell similar items maybe cheaper as well. just wanted to say what relief they have given me so far.
best wishes, to you all,
Nick

Hi Nick
I am glad to hear that you are getting some relief from the knee support.
Just to let people know,as I posted you previously, these supports are available on the NHS. I have OA in my knee, and my doctor referred me to the splint-making workshop of the Occupational Therapy dept. at the hospital. There I was fitted with two different knee supports, both good in different ways. I only had to wait two weeks for the appointment, and of course, the supports were free.
It was emphasised to me not to wear them all the time because it would weaken the muscles. But they are useful if well fitted and used only when necessary.
