im just wondering how many take the full dose of meds.
i have to take 2 slow release zomorph 10ml,backed up with oramorph,cocodomol 30/500 2 4x a day,ibuprofen 200, 2, 3x a day.
40 mg ampripyline,antisickness tablets.
i read on some post & other sites people with same conditions take meds as & when needed. i have oa plus other conditions.
i have pain 24/7 even with the meds.
im due to see rhymy at the end of april,my gp has been good, but the stronger the meds get the worst i feel,& the pain is still not controled.im only little,i was on butrans patches 20 mg & so sick i had to be took off.still didnt control the pain.
ive asked gp for pain management but he assured me he could get meds right, just feel fobbed off,& getting so down with the constant pain, recurring infections(its my ears now, antibiotics on top of everything else, causing severe stomach ache)do you all clock watch for your next dose? (every 4 hrs)do the meds rule your life?
or is it just me?im asking for pain management when i see rhymy cause im so fed up with all this pain.debsx sorry for the moan

Hi, yes I watch the clock sometimes on bad days, I start to feel the pain is getting unbearable after about 3 hours and want to take my meds again. I take Tramadol, 2x 4 times a day, 3 diclofenac a day, Omeprazole once in the morning and diazepam for whenever. I stopped the Amitryptiline as was so tired in the morning that getting up and ready for work was exhausting. My Consultant has referred me to our pain clinic here and by all accounts they are supposed to be wonderful. I've been waiting 3 months and know my appointment won't come until 6 weeks before it's due but it gives me something to look forward to. Maybe that is an option for you. They offer to completely evaluate your meds and offer alternatives too such as acupuncture, TENS and hypnotherapy. Maybe worth asking for a referral. Good luck x
