hi,hope your all enjoying the sunshine.
im so cold.we went out today & the temperture according to the car was 15-18 which to me is quite warm.father in law walking around in shorts & t-shirt.me im shivering,my hands r painful, numb & freezing cold,so r my feet.
i made a joke of putting my cold hands on every1s bare bits & they couldnt understand why im so cold.
i later took to bed to try & warm up.doing so my hands & feet arent so painful or cold.
ive sat this evening with 2 jumpers on & a blanket over my knees.
the pains in my hands started this morning as i washed up & cleaned the kitchen, the ends of my fingers were numb(normally r but more so this morning)& the pain started under my finger nails then to tips of my fingers.the base of my feet r always sore & numbness to the toes.pins & needles sensation also in fingers.
i did mention all this to rhymy at 1st appointment but it seems to be getting worse,it made trying to do dinner nearly impossible with the numbness.its worn off a bit now but still slightly numb.
does this sound like raynauds, looked it up & lupus came up as well.
nothing showed up in bloods last test.sorry that turned into a long post.answers on a postcard
thanx for listening.debsx

Hi Debs
Yes I am. Even though we have had two glorius days of sunshine here in Scotland I've still had the same stiffness I get with the bad weather. I just feel freezing all the time and when I go to bed I just can't seem to get cosy. I'm hoping more sun equals less pain. xx0 -
Hi
Yes I am still despite sunny days here!
I posted another thread about poor circulation, and am not sure if this is making me feel colder. I am sitting under a duvet at night whilst watching tv etc.. and my feet are like ice!!
But I am still enjoying having the sun in the days even if I am only sitting for a short while or having a gentle stroll.
I think we are the only ones with sun today looking at the weather map!! 8)

As I am new to this...forum, not pain...is bad circulation one of the symptoms of OA...I have felt the cold ever since my teens hence why I have moved to sunny Poitou Charentes.
A glass of wine warm will warm me up within minutes...true...but even though I would love to reach for the bottle anytime of the day...i'ts not really practical or for that matter the best option?
Just recently I have tried to give up bread and pasta on a diet and found out after 20 years of suffering from sinisitis that was the problem! Now I can breath out of both nostrils. So much for the doctors prescribing me nasal sprays and anti histamines..why do not they suggest looking at your diet? But not only have I found either yeast or gluten is not for me....I have noticed I do not get so cold?0 -
Hi Debs
Sorry you are having such a horrid time with the cold. I have the same problem with the cold. I have only just started driving again as my feet have been too numb to drive. My hands are nearly always numb. I find when the warmer weather comes I suffer just as much as you can't layer up as much as you would in winter. Those cool mornings and evenings are tricky when you are dressed for the sun in the middle of the day!!! It is hard. You should def mention this to your gp and again to your rheumy at your next appt. They need to know how badly this is affecting you. They can prescribe drugs to help. Raynauds is common with all connective tissue disorders, and is significant if it suddenly starts or gets worse, hence a trip to the docs!! It does occur with lupus, but also ra and other things. I have lupus and ra so if I can help you in any way please let me know. Take care. Deb0 -
Hi! Im always the only one in my group of friends that ever complains of the cold! I was diagnosed with Raynauds syndrome as a child, long before I had any issues with RA! I sometimes have to wear gloves as late into the year as May! (much to the amusement of friends/family). If it is Raynauds you have, your hands and feet will be cold all year round but be very painful when exposed to the winter cold, it can be agony without gloves! I dont receive any treatment for it, i just wear gloves, but I have an uncle that gets tablets and a friend that has to go into hospital for an infusion once a year to control it! I have a mild form. And anyway, cold hands can be great fun when sneaking up on people and putting them on their skin! Hehe!0

thanx to all for your replies.
my hands & feet are still cold but not as painful today.i still have the numbness at the tips of my fingers & toes.i went out in the lovely sunshine today & im the only 1 out there wearing a coat.still slept last night with 2 duvets on the bed & im sitting here freezing again.
my o/h had the back door open when i finally got up this morning & i sat shivering its been 18degrees here today
so have made a long list for my rhymy,im seeing him on the 27th if he doesnt cancel again.i did mention the numbness on my last visit,he check my fingers just pushing to see if colour returned.
so glad ive got this site as most people would think im mad sitting here with layers of clothes on & a blanket.
one more question do the soles of your feet hurt, numb feeling.(its abit like uv worn ur shoes for to long but not got any on?) debsx0 -
Debs make sure you do mention it again as their are things they can do and its the Rumo's dept that does Raynaud's etc.
I freeze all year round except for three- four weeks after I have had the drip.
Take care, Cris0 -
thanx cris,will do.
if its not 1 thing its another. debsx0 -
Deb
Yes the soles of my feet do hurt and they go numb as well, can't bear anything on them when they hurt. When they go numb I can't feel hot or cold or objects which is why had to quit driving for a few months  Struggle with keyboards . keys etc when my fingertips are numb. You really do need to mention this to your rheumy. They can prescribe drugs to help. In the meantime you can get gadgets to help from a places that sell handwarmers and lined socks etc to help people with raynauds. Let me know if you want more info, not sure what allowed to post!!!

Hi Debs,
I find the drip they give me helps so much, it's called Iloprost and it does have side effects while your on it but as soon as your disconnected they go away. they also some time use something called Neferdine and I believe that is gentler but not as effected. they are now saying they will give me both! Any way you take care, Cris.
Hi Deb,
i should love some more info if your allowed to. I get so cold all the time. I have been looking at the fingerless gloves that look like they are made of wetsuit material.
Take care, Cris0
