at the moment i can only walk whilst pushing my little one in her pushchair, it's like a zimmer to me! it's got good suspention so i don't get jolts, it's sturdy enough for me to lean on if needed, but i'm obviously limited going out withou her, she's not going to be in a pushchair forever either!
so what could replace the pushchair? walking sticks are no good as i can't lean on them so not enough support so is my only choice a zimmer frame? i'm only 35 (in a few days!) and kind off feel to young for this, sorry, i hope i don't offend anyone, i don't mean to, but are they any other suggestions? i would like to be able to go out on my own even just for a short wander but without the pushchair to lean on i just can't.
help please? what do other use?
thanks sue x

Hi
sorry you are in a dilemma! When your little one grows out of using a pushchair, it is strange when you go out, as though you have left something behind! and you miss the places to hang/put shopping!
For you , there will be an added thing of finding something suitable to support you when walking.
I`m sure you have thought hard about the options, like sticks, crutches, etc..Zimmers can be a bit more modern now, foldable (is that a word??) and wheels, even with brakes! Scooters? Maybe visiting a mobility type shop would allow you to see them close up and try them out. I understand how you feel about not really wanting to use these types of aid at your age, but you need to ensure you are able to walk safely and without too much discomfort. Using stick or crutches would probably make it difficult to hold your little ones hand when out with them too.
Sorry I haven`t been much help have i rambling on!!

Hi Sue
Sorry you're having this problem. Not a brilliant solution but what about a shopping trolley or a triwalker. You can get a triwalker with a seat or a shopping basket. Soppose they are a bit like a zimmer but maybe not quite as bad. Apart from a wheelchair or mobility scooter I can't think of anything else.

Hi Sue,
I'm sorry I can't really think of anything sensible for you to use but just wanted to say I am sorry you are suffering and hope you do find something. You could have an empty pram even when she is walking for a bit and it wouldn't look odd. Take care, Cris x0 -
thank you all, it's so nice to see your replies, not at all useless, far from it! i'll have to visit a mobility shop, thanks for that suggestion, i hadn't thought about that!
at least i've got a while to look into my options as she's only just 2 yrs old. i just get a panic sometimes, after all now i only go out with her but if i wanted to go out without her i'd be stuck, before RA came along i only had my bad hip to think about so a walking stick was fine, but now, more support is needed.
thank you all, again

Hi Sue, I worry about the same thing, my son is 1 and not walking yet, people keep trying to pressure me into getting him to walk, as it will prevent me lifting him. He's a stubborn wee thing and will do it when he wants, I use his buggy as a zimmer too! I have visions of me walking about with an empty buggy! I'm glad you posted this so I can get some tips too. x0

I so hated having to give up my pram. I had to stop a lot to take a rest in the days my tablets were not working. I used to rest on the pram and carry shopping. My tablets are not working and the mtx is gone out my system. I went out with my friend shopping it left me too tired i had to go to bed so i will have to borrow a scooter if i go to the mall again. joanneJoanne0
