This is one for the girls, boys, sorry.

Do you have trouble with your zips ladies especially those on your bags - well I have the answer?

Mobile phone charms or phone bling whichever you'd like to call them. These pretty little attachments for mobile phones are ideal for looping through the zips on your handbags to make life easier. They can be bought for about £2.50 each from Claires or Accessorize and possibly other shops and are really girly.

I suppose they could also be attached to skirt/trouser zips but (a) not sure how they wash and (b) not sure I want something glinting in the sun to draw attention to that part of my body at my age    ............ I'll stick to my piece of dowell with a hook on which I carry about in my handbag which I can now open due to my phone charm.:lol:

Hope this helps some of you.

    Hi Legs
thats a good idea. Do you have any ideas to help you do difficult buttons like the top button on a pair of jeans, or do you just avoid them?

    what a great idea!

I have also used key-ring fobs on zippers before now, but had to ask hubby to put them on for me!

There are some zipper pullers that are sold which are basically a loop of cord with a toggle on the end that you can slide through the hole in the zipper and loop through - the benefit of these is they CAN be washed! have seent hem in Damart catalogue and also in some of the mail order catalogues in their 'mobility' supplements.

    Hi Gill,

For buttons I use a button fastener. They're available in disability catalogues and I would think most mobility shops or pharmacists who supply aids for the disabled sell them. My OT gave me mine.

They're a piece of strong 'wire' shaped in a long 'Vee' and attached to a handle, you slot the wire through your button hole and over your button then pull the button through the button hole and with a clockwise/anticlockwise turn the button fastens. It's an action you'll need a bit of practise with but once mastered, guess what, IN-DE-PEN-DENCE !!!

Hope you get one and if you do make sure the 'wire' is really strong and stiff as I've used the thinner 'wire' ones and they're not as good.

    Happy hunting.

PS I don't avoid any conventional type of fasteners on clothing - I'd rather shop for the clothes I like, as other people do, and find a way around a problem rather than always reach for the velcro or elastic range - but that's just my little battle I feel I have to win with arthur.

    Great ideas, thanks for these.

While we're all swapping great ideas could someone tell me if those hair braider things work on long thick hair? Some mornings I can't do my girls' hair (I have 3 daughters) and have to resort to pony tails because my hands hurt and I don't want to put pressure on my eldest to help because she's only 10.

My husband says to cut their hair but that's a NO!
