Hey!
Im 25 years old, and have been having brace work on my teeth for years. More recently I have had braces put on the top and bottom, they are now going to operate, breaking both the top and bottom jaw, pushing the top jaw up and alot of gum shows and also moving the bottom jaw forward. And put metal plates in to hold it all in place.
I have laready spoken to someone on here who has had it done and they have been very helpful.
But is there anyone else on here who has had it done or knows of people who have had it. How did it go?
Does anyone know much about this kind of op, Im really nervous and very worried about it.

Hi
Sorry I don't know much about this at all, but I agree it does sound a bit scary!!
Sounds as though it will be worth it though - when are you having it done???
Do let us know how it goes
and take care

Hi,
I had a mate long ago who had her jaw put right, it was a simular opp to what you described and she has never looked back.
I hope it goes well for you and don't you go getting all wound up over it all as it will be ok. Take care, Cris0 -
Hello, I've no experience of the op you're having but just wish you good luck, but I'm sure that the surgeons wouldn't do it without good reason. Any surgery is a bit scary, especially the waiting part! I'm sure once you get things moving, you'll be really glad and a lot of the worry will go! All best wishes, Sue0

I had this op about 13yrs ago like you I felt very frightened but excited at the same time. I was sore and bruised for a while after but it was worth it I've never looked back and would go through it all again because the result was fantastic.
I think the worst thing for me was the hunger lol you have to eat soft foods but all the time I craved what I call propper food. I even tried to eat chicken from the Kentucky, the consultant went mad when he found out and said that it was like someone with a broken leg trying to walk on it I should not eat solid food!
I only wish that I had had the op years earlier because the confidence it gave me having lovely straight teeth was amazing and I have not stopped smiling yet.
Good luck with your operation and let us all know how it went.
