Another sleepless night tossing and turning, I'm not asking for much just some sleep. Anyone got any ideas apart from shower before bed, relaxation music, warm drinks think i've tried every thing i'm at my wits end, without sleep how can I cope with the pain

love to all

I do feel sorry for you not being able to sleep well at all. Nothing much to suggest except perhaps you could obtain relief by
massaging the affected areas regularly. I read this on the net. When you massage, you improve the circulation of the area. The blood and other fluids move easily from the muscles to the joints and you get temporary relief from inflammation and fibromyalgial flareups. But even the temporary relief will help you get some sleep. However, remember to massage only when you are not taking any drug for the condition because massaging in combination with drug intake can lead to complicating side effects.

Besides massage have you tried reflexology or acupuncture for sleeplessness? What about heated wheatbags on painful areas?

Do you catnap in the day which may not help sleep at night?

Sorry cannot come up with a miracle cure but wished you to know that I am thinking of you and so sorry that you cannot sleep, night after night. I have had bouts of this and it is indeed horrid. We do need a good few hours of deep sleep to keep anywhere near sane.

Hope you feel a little better soon,

    Love

The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.

If you can lay down at night knowing in your heart that you made someone's day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day.

Hi, Poor sleep is such a hard thing to put up with, I know. An old family doctor of ours, who has long retired, told me not to worry about it, the body will sleep when it really needs it, and noone died through loss of sleep. :x I suppose its true, in a way, but not really helpful! :|

Sometimes, GPs will prescribe a few sleeping tablets, just to break the pattern of not sleeping and to give you a few good nighs. Then, after several days, the body is in a different pattern and you will be able to sleep without medication.

Sorry, its not the best solution, a chat with your GP may help find something to help. I really hope so, Love Sue

Hi,I know what it's like not to have a good nights sleep and I can't really remember when I last slept right through the night. I too have tried all the usual remedies but none have been of any help.If I go to bed at 10.30pm,I am awake again in an hours time and then hourly after that.Last night was a bad night,I had a flare up in my shoulder and I think all I had was about an hours sleep so feeling very drained today.I see my GP this coming week so I think I will ask him about sleeping pills, perhaps take them for a week in the hope I can get some good nights.I'm not that keen on taking them as I have heard they can become addictive.I wonder if any other members have taken sleeping pills and what results,if any, they have had.Hope you have a btter night tonight. Ask your doctor about prescribing Amitriptyiline I had this prescribed by my GP when I was waiting surgery and couldn't sleep because of the pain in my hip. Although its generally thought to be an anti-depressant they do prescribe it in a very small dose as a muscle relaxant and it sure worked for me... I had to take it in the early evening about 7 or 8 by 10 I could hardly keep my eyes open and then slept like a baby.. I didn't take it every night just when I had had a few disturbed night then I would take one the dose is very low and not addictive, its worth asking what your GP thinks...

Thanks Tanith,I will ask my GP about Amitripyiline when I see him on Thurs.Having never taken sleeping pills,I don't know what's available.I guess the GP would start me off with a low dosage and see how it goes.Just a few good nights sleep should give me back a bit of energy. Breane. :)

    Hi Di,

I'm sorry you have been getting sleepless nights, I think we all do from time to time but they are some annoying. Is it pain that keeps you awake? I know it is with me as I can't turn over and end up on my back and that always hurts and I wake really hurting every night. I wonder if you can take any pain meds just before bedtime? When you see your doctor talk to him/her about it and see if they can come up with anything to help you. Keep us posted and take care, Cris
