I am overweight and struggling to lose even a pound, Doctor gave me xenical but after 3 days I decided this was not the drug for me, I asked to go on Reductil but they refused me as I am on humira anti tnf, anyway GP just rang and said there is a prescription waiting for me, he has looked into it and I can be prescribed it with Humira. Some good news for a change, so heres hoping this works.
If I could get some of the weight off my joints I would feel much better, same old story, been on Steroids put weight on, then a right job trying to lose it.
Hope this helps anyone else who may have been refused.

Lucky, that's good to know. I'm also trying to lose weight after being on 60mg a day steroids!!! I put on 2 stone and was a bit overweight to start. I'm finding it hard to lose the weight simply because the extra weight puts more pressure on my joints. As the pain really gets to me I'm just not active enough. I'm waiting to go on Enbrel so I'm hoping that once it takes affect I can get more active again. I have to break this vicious circle. And after seeing what xenical did to my mother I'm not touching it.
Thanks again for the info and good luck with the weight loss, I'm sure you'll do it. Cathy xx0 -

Oh does this sound familiar! I too am desperate to get some weight off as I am sure it would help in all sorts of ways. I have tried talking to my GP, practice nurse, Rheumatologist and specialist nurse and all ANY OF THEM will say is lets get you off the steroids and then see. WHY??? I am on Humira which doesn't seem to be lasting the full fortnight so I can see no end to the steroids.
I eat sensibly although exercise is a problem as the only form I can take is swimming and now I seem to have developed an allergy to the chlorine which brings me out in an horrendous face rash..... AARGH! The Practice Nurse did mention some kind of exercise support for those of us with limited mobility but again 'Lets wait till we get you off the steroids"??
Why am I the only one - well apart from my husband - who is worrying about this??
Hey maybe we should start an online weight loss support group?! (Only half joking!)
Sorry for the rant!
