Hi everyone again,
Did you know that RA is diagnosed in 1% of the UK population  and that on average a GP diagnoses 1 case of RA in every 2000 patients, that roughly every 2 years!
You could say that we are the unlucky ones
Or am i being misinformed???

Your figures are right. Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a chronic, progressive and disabling auto-immune disease affecting 0.8% of the UK adult population.

Hi
Interesting statistic. My GP says I have OA but my bloods indicate that I carry the gene for RA. I was surprised to read someone who had both OA and RA. It's bad enough having one.
I hate to think of my child getting OA or RA because of me. I wish they would develop a safe vaccine to immunise people from getting this illness.
It's good to know you are not alone.

I read somewhere that if you have RA it can sometimes cause OA as the body attacks itself and therefore by definition would degenerate the joints under certain circumstances. However don't know how true this is, but it does make sense.
