Hi folks
I had my medical for employment support allowance yesterday and I was 'fortunate' that I was having a terrible day. I failed to do all but one task, and that was touching my knees. She said she wouldn't ask me to lie on the bed because she could see I wouldn't be able to manage it. So, all in all, I think I have scored enough points to get incapacity benefit.
I wasn't watched from the car park or spied on in the waiting room and they didn't try and trick me into anything like some people have told me.
Take care
Les

I'm glad you had a bad day! Not that I would wish that on anyone, but if you have to have a bad day then the esa medical day is a good one to do it on! I think a lot of the people who do these tests don't realise, sometimes, just how bad arthritis can be. I think we should all be glad you showed them!

I hope you will now be put on the high rate of benefit and not have to worry anymore, about esa. I saw an employment advisor last week and by the time I walked across a huge car park, found the building and got up to the 4th floor (lift, of course or I'd still be there  ) I was shattered. The chairs in the waiting area were so low and had no arms, so I had to stand and wait. When I saw them they appologised for having to go through the motions, as they put it and advised me to apply for DLA. They asked why I hadn't already and I said that the form had put me off, I cound't face it! :) I'll stop now I'm going on a bit too much, sorry. All I ment to say is I'm waiting for the medical and not looking forward to it.

Hope you get sorted now, take care, Love Sue (Who talks too much)

As Sue said it was a good day to have a bad day.But there are some on this forum who have passed the test and told they can go back to work but are clearly suffering.
I am glad they were understanding,no-body wants to feel like there are not understood. The nature of arthritis is difficult for others to appreciate.
    Take care Tkachev

    Hiya
I had my medical a few weeks ago and still waiting for the response. I was having a really good day, the pregnancy is giving me more good days (not today mind, not much sleep, left shoulder hurting and right wrist v v painful). The medical was fine, just told him how it was. I did most of the exercises but explained that it was very painful. It was a shame that the form on the computer wouldn't allow him to expand the answers i.e I was asked if i could use a computer, I said I could if it was a laptop but only for max half an hour but a PC for only 10 mins max and it left me suffering. He said he couldn't write that down as it was a tick box.
To be honest I'm not entitled to any money so I had nothing to lose. The doc was nice and we laughed quite a bit. Many answers were that I delegate to the OH. I'd love to work but I'm 3months pregnant so it would seem a bit daft having to go to meetings every month as I get bigger.
Anyway, glad your medical went well.
    Take care, Jen x

When faced with a Yes/No tickbox, then if there are restrictions on you using a computer, the answer I would suggest, is NO.
