Hi Everyone,

I'm having such a bad day today, have hardly slept last night with pain in my shoulder and feeling as though it was coming down my arm, now after all the painkillers this morning and lunchtime I feel sickly and drowsy and basically a bit bloomin' sorry for myself.

Just need a litle rant. I was receiving DLA, lower rate care component so only about 70 quid a month then last year in May 09 I re-applied and they said I wasn't entitled to it anymore !!! I appealed and was still turned down.

I feel really fed up today about it, how can I one day be classed as requiring help then the next not ?!

I am struggling ttrying to do a part time job but as everyone knows, mornings are a bit of a nightmare, it's a killer trying to get into work when you feel like crap ! Can't even re-arrange my hours as I have to try and fit them around my children and this is the best I can do, the hours I'm on now :(

Has anyone else had trouble with DLA ?

As Elizabeth has said, there are so many people battling the DLA system at the moment. Why not make an appointment with the CAB - if you haven`t already. They are the experts, and are. apparently, very good at getting the help you so obviously need.

Hope you have a more pain free night.......Ange.

Thank you ladies - does anyone know if there's a set amount of time you need to leave before re-applying ?

I feel I should re-apply but can't be doing with the feeling of interrogation !

3 or 6 months Pol.as your getting worse re-apply.It helps if you kept your old claim notes to compare.Good luck.Unfortunately interrogation is part of the deal now and prob cos so many fraudulent claims in the past.

What about getting Citizen's Advice Bureau to help you appeal/reapply. They know exactly what to say, apparently.

    Hi

I am amazed at the problems people have when applying for DLA, I was diagnosed only 2 weeks ago so I am new at this and I am trying to find as much info as I can, i'm off work at the moment so i thought i would read the forums and i am shocked at the difficulty some of you are having.
I did read the DLA website and I can't believe that someone has to wait 3 months before they can apply!!!! obviously arthritis isnt going to go away, it may be ok some days then bad on other days so why do people get turned down? is it because they are having a good day if/when they had a medical? I do not understand the system at all,
I am not sure if i will be eligible to make a claim in 3 months time or not as i dont know how the arthritis is going to effect me in the long term ( I have arthritis in my spine not been told which one though ) you all have my sympathies and i wish you all well and good luck

    Hi Pols,

I was turned down and just kept fighting, appealed and went before a panel.

I was told that I would have to wait a minimum of 3 months before reapplying. I agree with some of the comments, CAB are trained in this area and can help you complete it and even represent you at an appeal. The appeal for me was quite daunting as there was 4 people and the clerk taking everything down. They are tough when questioning but hun it was worth the fight.

Good luck and keep up the fight - remember it's not about the money although it helps, but more importantly is about recognition.

Take care and all the best xxx
