Hi everyone

My pre-op is tomorrow and I've been having nightmares about it.... I keep thinking they'll say they can't carry out my operation on 15 February for whatever reason.

If you have 5 minutes keep your fingers crossed that my op will go ahead as planned!

Regards

Sharmaine

Hi Bertyboy, Mary, Lois and Chris

I know I'm being silly but it doesn't feel real that it may happen. I've been getting things ready: nighties; slippers etc and once the pre op is done I'll be happy.

I'll be glad when tomorrow is over and I can then prepare myself for the big op on 15 February. My appoinitment with the specialist had to be cancelled because he was unwell and I suppose that has put doubts in my mind.

    Thanks for your best wishes.

    Hello Sharmaine

Came on to wish you all the best for tomorrow. I'm sure everything is going to be fine for you and you will think it has been the best thing you have ever done. You are bound to be anxious, but try and relax and rest.

I've never had to have this op done and do not expect to have it done just yet, so I can't really say much more except give you a (((())) and all the best for tomorrow.

    I've just thought Sharmaine.

My friend from art has just had her knee done for the 2nd time. She had the other one done last year.

All through the waiting time, she was organising and setting up exhibitions for 3 art societies. She worked like a Trojan. At one time I thought she had had the op because she was walking better than I was. But no, she was due to have the op the next week.
Couldn't believe how well she was climbing the stairs and rushing around. Andy she is just as weighty as I am, if not more. SHouldn't say that really, but I think we all tend to put weight on the less we are able to get around.

Again, all the best for tomorrow.

    Joy

    Hi Sharmaine, my lovely,

I am back (last night) and have only called in now as I was rather tired yesterday

I remembered that your pre op assessment is tomorrow and just want to add my good wishes and I am sure it will all go ahead for you on the 15th. Why shouldn't it? Your surgeon will be well, for sure by then!

I shall be thinking of you and Dee too and sending over good vibes. I cannot do too much at the moment. :lol: but have plenty of time to think.

Do let us know how it went,

    Lots of love

The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.

If you can lay down at night knowing in your heart that you made someone's day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day.

    Hi Sharmaine
I will try to keep my fingers crossed for you tomorrow, but I will in theatre myself in the afternoon!
Just think of tomorrow as a step nearer to a new you. Without all the awful pain you now have in your knee. My thoughts will be with you xxxx You have waited a while for this and soon you will be on the road to recovery.

    Hi Joy

Your message has reassured me. Your friend must be made of some powerful stuff organising an Art Exhibition whilst suffering with arthritis! I find it hard just walking to the kitchen! Mind you I used to manage a Library but in my last year I found it dreadfully tough being on my feet all day; dealing with people's queries; admin; bending ; lifting etc. Miss the job but realise I couldn't give it my all especially not now. I would be a liability in a place of work with these OA riddled legs. :D:D

    Hi
Just popped in to say good luck for tomorrow......Write everything down that you want to ask and remember its YOUR assessment, ask anything no matter how silly it seems....mine is a THR on the 12th and I even asked that 4 weeks post op could I go to the hairdressers and go back over the basin to have my hair washed and cut....its short so will be getting taily by that time LOL She laughed and said she had never been asked that before.
Let us know how it goes....although I have an appoint with the surgeon tomorrow morning and will be out later on......but I'll catch up with the posts
    Love

    Elna!

What joy to have you back with us! I checked the site everyday for news. I'm so glad you're home but sorry to hear about the discomfort etc. You know it is a shame that you had to go around with such a bad knee for so long. It must have been hell. Having two bad knees myself ... !!!! My 54th birthday is on 23 February so having a new knee will be the best birthday present (I hope)!

Just think soon you won't need those crutches!

Take care, relax, watch some films etc! :D:D:D
