Hi folks
Had my pre op today: bloods; xrays; blood pressure etc. No obstacles re operation and that is scheduled for Monday 15 February in the early morning. Didn't sleep at all last night! We were at the hospital for 3 hours. I've just had a nap on the settee. I was worried aboutmy high blood pressure but it wasn't too bad.
I know Dee's having her op today so I hope she gets on ok.
I hope you're ok Elna after your op. Elna - what's Amica??
Take care everyone. Have a nice weekend.
Regards

Hi sharmaine
arnica helps you heal - you can get some from the health food shop.
Elna has replied on her thread and may get back to you today if she gets time - she is still a bit tired I think, but really doing well.
Can I wish you all the best and let me know when I'll cross my fingers for you
Love

Glad everything went well today Sharmaine. You`re flying now girl!
I had the very same problem with the BP, and of course, the more I worried, the higher it went.
On the morning of the op, it was raised slightly, but they went ahead anyway.
As I`ve told you before, it gave me back my life, and I`m keeping everything crossed that it`s the same for you.......Ange.0 -
Hi Sharmaine
Arnica is for healing, bruising. I have sent you a little pm.So pleased all went well. Now I expect you are wondering what you were worrying about. I am sure your BP will behave itself and allowances are made on the day of admission for being a wee bit nervous, because it is only natural.

Hi Sharmine,
Glad your pre-op went OK....mine was a couple of weeks ago for THR and my BP was sky high.......its always fairly normal. Pre-assess nurse said they would still do the op with it like that but "I want you to see your practice nurse when you get home."
I went to see her and it wasnt as high as it had been in the hospital but was higher than normal when she does it so she sent me home last week with a portable machine and told me to take my BP 3 times a day for 3 days. When I dropped the machine back she phoned me to say it was average {over the 3 days} 133/79 which is fine. No doubt on Friday when I go for my operation it will be sky high again but I think they will allow for that. The other thing was a call from thepre-assess nurse to say I had a urine infection......5 days of antibiotics then i left another sample in......I was terrified that it wouldnt go and they wouldnt do the op.....Phoned this morning and its fine....Thanks goodness. Donet we worry over little things LOL
Love and Good Luck

Hi Hileena
I forgot all about the urine specimen I had to leave! I'm hoping it's ok. They gave me a high blood pressure monitor to use at home for a week and my blood pressure was normal. Like yourself, I get nervous etc when I'm in the hands of the medical profession! My BP was up but that didn't seem to concern them. I just hope my blood tests are ok too. They give you the full MOT before major surgery!
Good luck with your operation and thanks for your advice.

Hi Helena
The 12th isn't so far away.... best of luck. Let us know how you get on. I'm sure you'll notice the difference. My MIL has had both her hips done and she's always on the go - full of energy. She makes me feel tired! She said it was the best thing she's ever done. Her last operation was about 3 years ago.
regards and cyber hugs!
