Hello,
I thought I'd just let you know about my exploits!!!
Just back from the hand clinic. Waste of time, really, as I hav'nt seen a neurologist yet, it was a quick in and out job and come back in 3 months when I've been to neuro (hopefully).

I asked about the x-ray of my hands that they took last time I saw them. The doc, a very young, doc, found it on the computer and looked at all the joints and said that their was no sign of arthritis at all and they are fine. So, its back in 3 months.

I didn't tell you, but yesterday I almost ended up in A&E. I had just started going up the stairs, when I heard a noise, so I turned around to see if I'd left the windows open and saw that I had, so went down to close them, thought I was only on the first step and stepped back, but I was on the second step and so I hit the floor with a jolt, reached round to catch the rail with my other hand as well and pulled the whole arm jolted my back and ankle and nearly broke a finger by bending it the wrong way!!! :( It really knocked the wind out of me! The hand I hurt was the one that had the cts on and that was what I was going to see the doc about today. :x

Anyway, it started to swell and really hurt around the wrist, so I took an anti inflamitory, which I shouldn't take, but hay, whats one?
Found a packet of peas in the fridge and wrapped them in a tea towel and sat all evening watching the TV. I think the ice did a lot of good as the swelling seemed less when I went to bed. I am a bit achey this morning, but managed to drive to the hospital. My wrist is a lot less swollen now!

Anyway, as much as I want to, I find it hard to believe that my hands show no signs of any type of arthritis, as they have the oa nodules that swell from time to time and the whole hand and thumb joint can hurt so much, it wakes me up at night. I know the measurements the physio took showed some weakness too.
So I'll keep an open mind on that, until I've had the other x-rays, tomorrow, and seen firstly my GP and then the Rheummy.

Love Sue

Hi, no I wasn't impressed but, as I was feeling a bit fragile this morning, and the plastics doc didn't look old enough to be drinking in a pub, let alone surgery  I really don't think he knew what to do so he just looked at the x-ray to shut me up, I know the rheummy has said I have arthritis in my hands, just by looking at them, well, they are bumps and lumps! This morning the bumps didn't look so big, as the rest of my hand is swollen! it looks and feels better since more ice and movement, when I got home.

The nurse was'nt too tactful either, she said, when I mentioned the arthritis. "Oh what we put up with when we're getting old". I'm only 54, well 55 in May! :D Good job I've got a sense of humour, and she was trying to be nice! :?

    Love Sue
